I put this saw up for sale and sold it in 2 days for $150. This was almost all profit as I had already sold the 1st saw for enough money to cover the purchase of all 7 of the pieces I bought. I spent just a few $$$ in parts on this one but it was a fairly involved repair to split the cases and replace the oil line. Still, this one puts us in the green!

My weed eater is very hard to start when it is hot what could it be
@MEGMotors972
@MEGMotors972 5 күн бұрын
It can be a lot of things depending on what it takes to get it started when it is hot. In some cases a worn trimmer will lose compression when it gets hot. It will continue to run until you shut it off and then cannot be started again until it cools. If holding the throttle wide open helps then it may be flooding due to a stiff carburetor diaphragm. If choking it helps is could be going lean due to the same diaphragm problem. In some cases it's just carb adjustment although typically when they start to need adjusting it's because the diaphragm is staring to stiffen up. What do you have to do to get it to start when it is hot?

I listed this saw on Facebook Marketplace and sold it in about 3 days for $100 to a collector. This sale will cover the cost of this repair plus the purchase price of all of the 7 pieces that I bought for this project/series so we are already at the break even point and everything we sell from this point forward will be profit!

Thanks for making these videos. I've learned a lot (complete newbie). Quick Question: You switched out the spark plug near the end of the video. I may have missed it earlier in the video, but could that have been the issue?
@MEGMotors972
@MEGMotors972 10 күн бұрын
Hi and thanks for the feedback. At 11:37 I talk about using the spark plug from the same blower I pulled the coil from. Later in the video (in the high speed part) I had to pull the plug to get the covers back on but I used that same plug after the covers were on. The original spark plug did not look bad enough to have been the root of the no spark condition although you raise a good question. If I didn't test the new coil with the old spark plug then it is entirely possible that the spark plug was the problem all along. I really don't think that was the case and the blower is long gone now so we will never know for sure 🙂 Thanks for watching.

Is it still running okay?
@MEGMotors972
@MEGMotors972 2 ай бұрын
Typically it is either the carburetor flooding because of the diaphragm or the needle. These engines also tend to blow a little fuel back out of the carb when they are run hard and that can get worse as they get older. If you have a brightly colored oil in the gas you can sometime see it on the filter. If it's just a little and it is running okay I wouldn't worry about it too much.
