Thor was actually one of the most deeply intricate characters in cinema history. He started off as a self righteous hero who just wanted to prove himself in battle and developed into a true hero and father. Unlike 90% of fictional characters, he didnt just experience loss early on as motivation to be a hero (like iron man, spiderman, black panther, captain america ect), but consistently was beat down by life throughout the infinity saga: He lost his father, his brother, his mother, all his best friends, 90% of his species, his home, an eye, the love of his life, heimdall and mjonir. This made him lose his way like no other characters did and was just beautiful to watch him heal slowly but surely in Endgame. Regardless of whether or not he is the strongest avenger power wise (which he might still be) since the scarlet witch and captain marvel appeared, he is definetely the most interesting and real character in the whole universe.
