When you brought out that 17 pound bar, it brought back memories of my younger years ! I was a, " Gandy Dancer " ! Working Maintenance of Way for what then was the Louisville and Nashville, aka. L&N, then also for the Norfolk and Western, aka N&W, Railroads ! That 17 pound bar got pretty heavy by days end, especially after some of the other things we did, like Two guys tossing 300 pound creosote covered railroad ties, from a moving train ! You get the picture ! Anyway, we called those bars, " Spud " bars ! Used mostly for leverage when forcing Track into position ! Hope that helps ? ⚒️

If you weld a 1/2" plate across the end of a piece of 3" steam pipe and weld 2 pieces of 3/4" pipe and space it out 2" welded parallel with the big pipe of 3' long. You can use this to drive pipe or T-posts or put a Larks head knot around the base of the post and hook to the bottoms of the pipe offsets and work opposite, to pull the post out. Used this method over 50 years. Had one stolen, one borrowed and never brought back, and I lost one, made another one and then found the one I lost and I donated it to a fellow that installed fences. Thanks for your time.

Love this - I have lots of wire for this type of project and am getting my shop finished off inside! I have been thinking about peg board - but I'm not a big fan and the wire holders are expensive! One thing you could do to the wire you hang heavier items from is form the shape then lightly hammer with a nylon hammer and that will help to work harden the copper wire. Thanks going to do this in my newly finished shop!

Maybe hold your compass, the set point not the pencil, to perpendicular to the paper for better results?

Great video, so thanks to you and uncle Pete. However, you didn't mention anything about conditioner. Do you use conditioners on your bristles to keep them supple and to help the paint clean off easier?

Thanks, that was super helpful. All of the people complaining about cutting towards your hand... I agree that you should go find another way to do it. The way it was done in the video with a gentle rocking of the blade back/forth is not going to suddenly cut through 5 inches of plastic and slice your hand. If you're afraid to do that, it's probably best to hire a professional.

Wow, this is timely advice for me. This coming week I will be repairing multiple (foundation-caused) drywall cracks in a small bathroom. Sanding dust will be such an issue that I would have been tempted to try the damp sponge trick had I not seen this video. Thanks.

Do the connections of long pipes have to be rounded? Could the pipes be connected at right angles? How far apart are the tubes?

I just have to comment on that rubber.. that is the rubber they used to use on everything made of rubber back when I was a kid in 1960s. Thing made back then of that rubber are still around today and the rubber is still good i it hasn't been in too much sun and/or has been worn out from use. Just a note on the position of those fingers when installing.. make sure the flat side of the finger are facing the direction that will make the most contact with the chicken... Larger surface area for better plucking... That first one you already had in is facing the right way as the plate spins, but the second one you put in is off just a tad, and the 3rd one is off even more.. in the barrel the flat sides face around the circumference... thin side ends top and bottom.. again facing the direction that will make the most contact with the chicken as it spins around the barrel.

@herrickkimball Why did you use sheet metal screws? Would wood screw work? Awsom video! Thanks
@herrickkimball
@herrickkimball 6 күн бұрын
Pan head sheet metal screws are flat under the head, so they seat nicely against the copper wire. Wood screws are tapered under the head which is not ideal. But wood screws will do the job.

For simplicity, I call them pancake style. I can stack them in my wood stove. I’m in NM and it only takes one summer to dry. I found out pancake stack in the stove ( with low air) can almost last all night. We have a lack of hardwood here, so I use Mulberry. ( very hard wood with good BTU’s.). Flat is where it’s at. I used my splitter till I was 72. Got difficult to carry around those pieces. Also did them vertical. Much easier to sit and split, then grabbing another round to slide over and split. Good to see this. ( thought I was the only one!) lol!

Excellent video, I've done this before and it's like premium high quality hay. And if it drys enough you can store it in garage cans for a year or more. I do this so in the winter I can refresh my hen laying boxes with soft bedding that will keep the eggs from getting muddy..if you can keep them from eating it, they love it.

I appreciate your mention of making the flange split and that the material is flexible enough to accommodate being fitted around plumbing that way. I appreciate your attention to detail and the simplified means by which you accomplished your goal. The shop-bought escutcheons rust and look awful -- I wanted something simple, clean, and well fitted. Thanks to you, I'll start working with PVC.

You took plenty of time to patiently explain how it was made but seemed to rush through showing the applications. It would have been great to see more of where you use this and what knots you use with it.

I bag it off the mower and use it green. I'm careful to not let it pile on tomato stems and other plants. Seems to work good for us. Green grass seems to make a nice weed barrier matt that dry hay or straw doesn't. If you use green grass don't leave it in a pile to long before you spread it cause it gets smoking hot.
