Load a sample and change the audio engine from audio to sampler. Click sampling and chop up the samples. Now your chops are midi.

I finally got kits to make sound but when i load projects nothing is there. This is why I can't get going with Maschine. Things work one moment and then they don't.

Now I have another question. When you say they don’t make any sounds, do you mean the preview sound? When you single click on a loop, instrument, or one shot does it not play the preview? If not, you’ll have to make sure the speaker under the browser window highlighted and turned up.

When I try to dup what you're doing and I go to my loop list in cert gold and i bring up dragon kit and load it there is no sound when I play it. There is no pattern

From this post, I see you said you went to the loops section to load a kit. In order to get the drumkits and patterns to load go to the drumkit section (the icon after the project) select your kit you want to load before you load it, at the bottom of the browser window you should see +routing & +patterns. Make sure +patterns are highlighted then load your kit. The kit and patterns should load.

@@ProdXdB Hey man, I can't thank you enough for responding to my ramblings. I had never used kits before watching your video. I thought they would load and play after double clicking. What I finally learned is that I had to click on 1-124bpm underneath Scene 1 in the upper section. If that isn't selected there is no audio. I don't even know what that is for. As I said I'm trying to follow along but there are a lot of potholes I get stuck in. Btw you made a comment in one of your videos that everything in Maschine is key labeled, but I only find key labeling in the loops. If i go to kiets or projects I don't see anything key labeled. What am I missing? Thanks again, Gordon

Gotcha. So you will need to learn Maschine as a whole. It sounds like you bought it and tried to learn it on your own and couldn’t navigate it. I have a couple of videos you need to watch. So for the loops, yes there are keys listed on them but on one shots they are all on the root note C. Even the chord set one shots keys are listed.

What up fam. So I don’t own an Apollo but to get this working, you have to change some preferences in Maschine. Go to preferences and select Audio. Place your Apollo as the audio interface. Once that is done, head to a free pad and select sampling. Once there, under recording mode set that to free. Then under input, set your source input to external mono. Input should be whatever you plug your guitar cable line to, (Ch. 1 or Ch. 2). Lastly, monitor should be set to on. You should be good to go from there.

What up fam! So honestly I’m here is no daw that just “good” for one specific genre. It all depends on how you would like to produce. Since you’re just starting out, if you would like to use hardware, turning knobs and pressing button to produce, get Maschine, Ableton, or MPC. If you want to just use a computer, mouse and keyboard; use FL Studio (PC & Mac) , Logic Pro X (Mac) or Studio One (PC & Mac). All programs will enable you to make R&B. Once you decide what program you want to use, then you learn the program. If you choose Native Instruments Maschine, I can help you out with that completely!!

At what point do you have enough drums though? Are there other samples in the kits?i like native instruments sounds and samples. The sound quality is impressive to me. But i want other sounds than drums. I don't mean to complain. I have Komplete, but i don't have a maschine. I have an mpc live 2. How can i use the expansions with the live 2 or get value out of the expansions without using battery? Are there other sounds in the expansions that would make it worth opening it up in battery?i have lots of drums already. Thank you. I think this is the first and second video I've seen on this topic. Thank you for making them. I use Reason and i am learning how to make music again. I just got Komplete so i am learning about native instruments software. It's my first time using them. It took a long time to get the money to buy it. Lol. Thank you.

I gotcha. So yes, all expansions have instruments sounds and audio loops. With you using MPC Live, I think that’s the standalone version, you can create a folder of the audio loops and to import into the MPC. All instruments one shots, drum one shots, and audio loops are WAV files. So if you don’t want to use battery, you can create your own kits in Reason using the drum one shot WAV files.

I didn't buy any of the expansions on the 9 for $99 sale because i have drums for days. I wish they were presets for the vst instruments. The 9 for $99 was an incredible deal. But i wanted more sounds and presets to use in my beats, not more drums really. Does Native Instruments make expansions that are sound sample and preset heavy?

Naw not really. Most of the expansions are based off of Maschine and Battery. They have a lot of loops and one shot instruments but not many sound presets. So if you’re looking for sounds, I would suggest you check out NI Play Series Instruments. They are Kontakt Libraries with over 100-150 sound presets which also allows you to create your own designable presets. Now I make R&B & Trap style music and Play Series Duets is one of my favorite. bit.ly/dBPlaySeriesDuets check this out and go through some of the Play Series Instruments. You won’t be disappointed.

Absolutely not. You can use expansions in any DAW. Once you purchase, NI has their product software titled Native Access where you download it to your computer. Once downloaded depending on your computer, you’ll load the kits in Battery, presets in Monark or Komplete Kontrol VST. Loops and sounds are in the expansions folder. I have 34 of these and never use them. Every time i load one into maschine software I feel like I need to be a scientist to figure it all out. Wish they would tell you what key it's in as well. I see people using these and creating great stuff but for me it's the steepest mountain I've ever climbed.

I agree Ella Mai got that bounce since working with Mustsard. I think the Ready album from 2017 was primarily produced by him. Crazy since she’s from the UK. I saw her perform in Italy when she was first starting to catch wave. Was probably less than 200 people in the club. Look at her now.
