i have been trying to plan this exact hike! from niagra through to tobermory but i cannot figure out a way around the camping situation, everyone tells me that i cannot camp along the way..if you still are on this account could you please tell me how you did it ? or suggest what i could do.thanks in advance :)
@BorealTrails2 ай бұрын
Hey there! The camping situation is tricky not just because there aren't enough overnight rest areas, but due to lack of water if you get hot weather. You can try stealth camping if you practice strict Leave No Trace principles. There are also some paid campgrounds along the way such as Hope Bay (the owners are friendly). Finally, if you're in a pinch, try the CouchSurfing app. The good news is the Bruce Trail Conservancy intends to put more effort into making it friendlier for thru-hikers: www.guelphtoday.com/local-news/bruce-trail-aiming-to-be-thru-hikeable-by-2030-ceo-8417865 I hope this helps!

Lovely trail ASMR. I want to do this trail! What site number was that where you have to grab the rope to get water at? I maybe dont want to book that one 😂😉
@BorealTrails10 ай бұрын
That would be H38! The booking said "steep water access" but somehow I was still surprised by the rope hahaha. In general though, La Cloche has phenomenal campsites.

@BorealTrails good to know! I will make a note of this. My friend who may come do the trail with me is partially paralyzed so I don't think she can get water there

Hey great video, did you find the bootleggers caves near cave point? (Not on any trail map) our family has hiked halway log dump to the grotto before and missed them not realizing they are there. Going to take my daughter on her first backcountry camping trip to stormhaven this year and hope to find them this time around.
@BorealTrails Жыл бұрын
Thank you for your support! I didn't know that Bootlegger's Cave existed but I'll have to look for it next time I'm on the Bruce Peninsula. I appreciate the info. I'm sure your daughter will have a blast as that's an amazing choice for a first backcountry camping trip. Enjoy!

My aunt just moved in her new home on 10 acres of land and she is NOT a big fan of bugs and she sees stick bugs everywhere and she HATES them. But she would like to know if they can fly cause if they can then she will never come outside 😂.
@BorealTrails Жыл бұрын
Not all stick bugs can fly but for the species that can, they rarely do fly. The good news is that they're harness to humans! 😅

Planning this trip next September, how did the xmid hold up in the weather? I hear the footprint is pretty large any trouble finding a place to pitch, I couldn't tell if it was the 1P or 2P.

One of the most beautiful & rugged places l've ever been, it will always have a place in my heart. Spent many nights in the log cabin (" stom haven") that was there until about 1994, winter & summer. Beautiful footage but sad that there's no storm haven at storm haven anymore. Cheers & happy trekkin
