My home built in 1941 contains zero plywood ; my neighbors house built in1952 has plywood roof sheathing a big decade of change

This was awesome thank you so much I learned a ton. So how different is the support post procedure if the deck is similar to this but has a concrete driveway underneath rather than soil? Our deck looks very similar to this but is installed over a sloped driveway on the back of our house. What's the best approach in that case?

Why doesn’t my skylights blinds close with remote? We had our electrician look at it and he can’t figure it out what the problem is.

We got a huge dead Red Cedar here in N Cal. Died a few years ago. Looking for a way to mill it. Seems a shame to let it rot. Near Weaverville, Cal if you have a mill.

Hello, how to you install lvl support beams for an unfinished basement and open up several areas? Have Structural Engineer report and was giving a go for my ideas to widen basement area.

You didn't show us squat. At the end you show a tube of glue and side staples and you never discussed anything other than laying out the shakes.

This is an older video, and I am sure that deck installations were more affordable in 2016. I was literally shocked when I got estimates recently on the cost of rebuilding my deck. There is a point when it is just no longer afforadable for the average homeowner. I think that time has come. I am tempted to call West Coast Decks for an estimate, since they are in my area, but would their pricing be more inline with my budget? I doubt it. Could I build it myself and have a quality product while saving money? Good question.

Great work, can we do the same way you did but not underneath the and we attach the beams to this LVL with hanger?

Their webpage says to use galvanized nails. Don't use galvanized with Cedar. You will eventually get black lines from the nail heads due to the reaction of the oils in the cedar and the nails. You need to use stainless steel nails every time with cedar.

I'm thrilled to see juniper landscape timbers being used for such a cool project like a rustic raised planter bed! It's awesome to find all-natural alternatives that are resistant to rot and bugs. We've got plenty of juniper options here at Levi's Sawmill that are perfect for DIY projects just like this one. Can't wait to see how yours turns out!

If you're not a seasoned carpenter a "Sawzall" is a dangerous tool to use on a ladder because it can bind/kick. Once you're comfortable with the ladder use a good new blade and for this job, install it upside down!!!

Also let the blade do the work, don't muscle it!!!
