That’s funny I built a nearly identical test rig to measure static thrust. Doesn’t tell you much regarding propellers for fixed wing aircraft but it’s great to test motor efficiency and ESC’s! I’ve switched to using CASTLE CREATIONS and T-Motor and Sunnysky, with APC thin electric.
@valkyrie_workshop
@valkyrie_workshop 2 күн бұрын
@FPVREVIEWS Yeah I literally use it only to check if I meet approximate thrust and pitch speed, tho it's just static. But I never tested motor efficiency on that, may I know what's your workflow for that? (So far I sticked with Skywalker ESC and switching to SunnySky. (However dunno if the extra money on ESC makes some significant difference?)

Hi Steve. It's any wood glue (PVA) and the paper, it's packing paper. There are more variations with different thickness so I go around local stores and try to find the thinnest one. Mine has one side matt and the other is a little shiny. But both are smooth, so it's not like rough paper. Rly the best way is to check multiple stores and get the best you can find 😊👌

I would recommend not using black tape because of the weight that it adds. They have a shrink wrap that is super light that they use for Bolsa wood airplanes. I would look into something like that.
@valkyrie_workshop
@valkyrie_workshop 5 күн бұрын
I totally could have used that. But I absolutely gave up on that idea when I saw what insane money they wanted for 2m of plastic (Oracover) 🤯 It would definitely looked better, tho I'd not claimed how much I saved on weight, literally the 3D printed case for SpeedyBee is heavier than any covering 😅 Anyway, the tape is also light and thin so covering the fuse with few overlaps gives an extra layer and strength for landings 😊👌

Thank you very much 😊♥️ Well I would ideally recommend Genuine EMAX analog at least. However, I obviously try to keep the costs low so I have done many flights on copies of Tower Pro MG90s from AliExpress. Those are good copies tho! Nathan - AerostuffFPV uses them in all of his builds. Hopefully the link will work, but from this seller they are truly full metal gear (some other sellers have variants where the motor gear is plastic, but it's mostly mentioned in the reviews) I ordered like 20 of them and so far only two were faulty, gears skipping. a.aliexpress.com/_EQFwFJp But Bear 🐻 in mind I'd rather recommend EMAX from Banggood anyway, those are genuine! And the rubber bands, I take any from my local hobby stores. I can't give a good recommendation for that. On the packaging it's JP (JPerkins.com) 😊♥️

@@bq15096 I would recommend to get the cheap 12$ Gyro A3 V2 from AliExpress. You can tune it mid air and at least for Maiden it would be a "fail safe". Awesome looking design, that flies well! Even though the fuselage is box shape, the end result looks sporty. Great tips and details during build process. Nice clean build by embedding tail wires in boom and using 3d print to mount the flight controller. The tip of using carbon rod as a fulcrum to find balance is one I have not seen, so will borrow. :)

@@AerialWaviator Thank you very much 😊🙌 Yeah some sleek rounded fuselage, with less aggressive angles would fit it well too. Yeah no problem, I've never seen such a stuff either 😅 But it comes from my first attempt to build a pusher UAV - I had fuselage built first and had no idea where to put the wings so this method has been discovered 😅 Luckily with this design the wing can be moved in range of 10-15mm so even without moving the battery one could do some fine tuning after. Or moving the tail boom. Literally three ways to fine tune the CG 👌💡

Anyone with some tip for a cheap & good camera (phone) to make better quality Fly-By footage? Those in the video were taken by my assistant with iPhone XS, but the focus while zooming is quite bad 😒
@AerialWaviator
@AerialWaviator 10 күн бұрын
Try to using "AE/AF lock" (auto-exposure/auto-focus). Point camera at tree or something far away, zoom-in, let focus (a tap on object image), then press-n-hold on view screen. Should see yellow indicator popup saying AE/AF Lock enabled. To remove the AF lock just tap screen again. Can still use two fingers to manage zoom, but some care is needed, as single tap on screen will unlock AE/AF. Better option is downloading a 3rd party camera app that allows manual setting for focus (set to infinity for flying views). The Apple default camera app's autofocus is not your friend when taking long shots, or capturing images through glass. Any time focus is off, it starts scanning from close to far focus, so for far away objects this results in bad focus much of the time. Adding an external telephoto lens kit to the iPhone can also help for far away recording, as it can be hard to keep an RC plane in close.

LMAO right? 🤣🤣 The Droopies has an effect, In general, if it's designed to the plane and desired flight characteristics. Droopies like STOL package for Cessnas, or A10 got them. They should improve Take Off and Landing as said, and help with ailerons control authority as the high pressure is "trapped" under the wing. I am not an expert to Droopies tho, I added them mainly for design. But feels like it's flying on a rails LoL. Thank you very much Nathan 😊♥️🤘
