Anyone know if Donald Cobain has said anything about his son's worldwide success?

This really adds the "Drums in your face" sound that Steve Albini is great at.

Dude, really cool. Great job. I do think because of what was intended to be room for Pat to put a part in the actual full vibe wasn’t there. Pat was the member of the band Kurt was actually working with towards the end. Burn the rain was supposedly done in Kurt’s home studio just before he left for that fateful LA rehab stint… would love to hear what coulda been.

DEFINITIVE VERSION OF THIS SONG.
@guanxvi4 ай бұрын
It makes you realise how compressed and badly mixed the Geffen version is. I still think the song wasn’t finished by this point. The bass riff needed more work, the lyrics aren’t final and a second guitar + additional time and improv would have lead to some more fully formed solo and bridge and the vocal melody in the chorus are better in the live recording but this is as definitive a version of this we are ever going to get. I need a copy in case this ever gets taken down.

Genuinely sounds like the album recording which may have followed although Kurt hated Steve Albini in the end so I don’t think the next album would have sounded like In Utero for a number of reasons. It’s quite possible Dave might have left the band by 1995 due to creative differences / hiatus. Kurt also said that he was looking to REM for inspiration which makes me think the next album could have been a musical departure closer to ‘New Adventures in Hi-Fi’ than mid-90s FFs.

The fact that it topped the charts in 2002 literally 8 years after Cobains death just says how much Nirvana meant. Bet the same thing if not, then might happen if a new Nirvana song/unreleased was released today. Unfortunately, You Know You're Right is the only Nirvana song to be released in the 21st century:(

I'm rediscovering this seeing it as the tip of the evolution of Nirvana that was snipped off. It sounds superb and its such a great song albeit a tad depressing. Man...we miss you.

The saddest thing about this song is that I think this is the direction that the music was heading… so good.
@daviddennen74795 ай бұрын
Not really. It's a song he had demoed before. They were just able to record it. According to Kurt he was gonna move away from the "grunge" sound on the next album. He also said "metal machine music" and more acoustic stuff like R.E.M. Basically the next album was all over the place at that point and nothing was set in stone. Then he died and we were left with what is essentially a demo of You Know Your Right, later officially released.
