Although the issue of maps can be a problem, I have used AI to amplify them: I take a photo, upload it to CHAT GPT and ask it to detail each point, giving it a little information. It gives good results.

I see both sides. He wasn’t wrong about the way dnd deals with half orcs specifically being pretty racist, largely stemming from the fact that they went beyond physical attributes and gave races inherent personalities and alignments. This goes back to the roots as a game about killing monsters and raiding dungeons. No one thought role playing as different creatures would be so central to how people play the game way back then. People looked to stretch the role play possibilities and wanted to play as Orc, WotC said “Orcs are just monsters, the generic bad guys, inherently evil and stupid, but maybe if they were half human their human side could override their Orc nature and be a real character. . .” Any race could be as good, bad, smart or stupid and the player wants, except for Orcs unless they were half human. The idea that the degree to which you could be considered smart, good or a real person being linked to the degree to which you share traits with the majority (in this case humans or arguable elves) is racist. I just wish they just let orcs have a set of physical characteristics and maybe a few cultural traits that aren’t all about being evil for those characters who grew up in Orc culture, and let everything else be on the individual. It’s like that for everyone else but Orcs.

Reminds me of a campaign I was in. We were hired to fight off an Orc siege, our wizard choses to climb a watch tower to cast from there for high ground(good idea, mostly). After eating a couple fireballs, the Orcs figure out where he is and start concentrating their efforts to take him out (again, good idea). The wizard then starts complaining that he is being unfairly targeted, the DM responds "think about it, you have one guy with a sword (The fighter) that can at best hit 2-3 at once, a Bard that can confuse/charm a couple or maybe shoot a crossbow at one, a healer that can't really damage anyone, a rogue that can attack one at a time, and a wizard that can fireball half your army each turn, who are you going to take out first?" The following turn, after taking more attacks from the Orcs, the wizard drops his staff, yells "all is lost" and runs away, never to be seen again. It happened IRL too, the player packed his stuff, said "I'm out" and walked out the door, never to be seen again. From that day on we called any attempt to flee combat "Pulling a Redstick" (after the Wizard Cobin Redstick).
