my 91 firebird did the same thing, my dickhead brother tried to get it unstuck from the snow by trying to rock it (reverse forward reverse forward) didn't get it but a few days later the snow melted and so I drove it but it wouldn't shift past second gear so I parked it for a couple months and when I went to move it it shifted so I drove it for another 2 years without shifting issues before I sold it!
