Absolutely never take out a loan before you already have some business. Taking out a loan for a business before it’s even started is extremely risky. You’re gonna need some capital to start out with. Start with rentals and buying used equipment. Your budget should be focused more on marketing. I love how people that never did what they are talking about give advice. There are waaaayyy more expenses running a truck than that. Insurance seems a little low with a financed truck to me. DOT compliance, This video makes it seem like Class A dump trucks never need any Parts and repairs... the older the truck the more down time you will have. Everyone always acts like you're going to generate X dollars, because you can do this much work this many days a week. Driver Salary and workers comp in there too. Have you ever had to pay for an 11/24.5 tire repair on the side of the road? Also who is paying you? Is it individual accounts and customers? Then you will need to pay someone for billing and hope everyone pays on time.

hOW MUCH SHOULD A CONTRTACTOR CHARGE? The answer is you need to know your break even numbers first , which is your true cost of overhead per hour. At that point you can determine your desired net profit goal be it 10 to 30% or more. How much profit do you want ? Only you can say. In S California some serviced plumbers are getting $350 to $500 per hour built into their pricing structure. If you do great work and sell it right you can get those kind of numbers. I worked for a company that wanted to grow but couldn't. People wouldn't stay more than 6 months. Not even the office staff. It was a revolving door. The issue wasn't the people. It was the owner. The max pay was only $25 an hour when every where else is paying as high as $70+ an hour. The boss was super bi-polar and would scream at people all the time. It's important to mention that treating your workers good and paying them enough to not quit is vital to growth.

Add the expense of: General liability insurance, Workers Comp, grinders (10-20,000), wires and plugs, a truck big enough to haul it all, plus a lift gate - those grinders are very heavy, a generator, hand grinders, marketing, the time to go on and conduct sales calls needed for every single job, time to write the bids, and time to call and negotiate every bid - they don't just throw the money at you, dealing with the dozens of competitors all offering to beat your already low price, the cost of fixing repairs due to peeling, water vapor pressure, hot tire markings, epoxy failing - yes, manufacturers screw up too, employees learning on your dime and then setting up their own competing business.....there are many other things to remember and learn.....but the guys conducting the classes....they are doing that because a sucker is born every minute...if installing was so great, that's all they'd be doing.

I residential wood fences and I started and still have a very small 8x5 open trailer from Home Depot I paid $1,500 for brand new, and while it's not the best, it definitely gets the job done for a solo operator. Absolutely no need to spend 30k on a trailer to start with.
