Instead of several relays which are ignitioned triggered, why not to add just one giant 200A relay and let this control an extra fuse box. This wiring will be ignition triggered and attached to this fuse box are components like power windows, headlights, turn signals, horn, radiator fan, fuel pump etc. Will this work?

Dumb question but if you only run 1 wire to the switch how will it know to turn it on or off? Shouldn’t there be two wires to the switch?
@TrackFactory
@TrackFactory 3 жыл бұрын
The wire that connects to the switch from the board is signal, power is supplied to relays, then the switch activates that current to go to the device, also power needs to be ran to the switch itself. Think of a relay as a big switch that needs another switch to turn it on so it can open up and flow. Basically Small switch sends power to big switch so the big switch can send power to devices that have a greater power draw than your tiny switch can handle.

Nah, take the throttle body off along with everything above the injectors, id take off the banjo bolt in the rear and the fpr on the rail first if possible but the fpr doesn’t have to come off, just makes it easier but its also a pain to remove. Then you can take the mounting bolts off and slide it right out.

The way you explained it confused me. Relays are designed to send high amperage power by using an low amperage signal. You said the switch will send power from the white wire, through the relay and out the yellow wire. This means your power from the battery will be the one powering the coil in the relay. If you do it this way you will have it working opposite (high amp power coil, low amp power load) from my understanding the battery side wire should be sent to the relay armature. Once voltage from switch is sent through coil it will close the armature and allow the high amp power from battery to power the load
@TrackFactory
@TrackFactory 5 жыл бұрын
Sorry for the confusion, inside the relay there is an electromagnet that will close a contact point when energized. So what I meant was the white wire (switch) will send power to the relay (a small amount) just to close the contact point on the relay which will let the power flow through the relay to your device you want to power
@boxbreakracing

@TrackFactory
@TrackFactory 5 жыл бұрын
@@alloveross1 yes but you want to make sure you have a fuse on that wire coming from your battery. Also keep in mind that if you hook it up this way your switch power wires will be "hot" meaning they will be able to be turned on without the ignition switch on.

so why not put the yellow and white together for each relay? I have seen a few videos of the same setup and the outgoing power and the switch are always separated. wouldn't it be easier to wire it up if they were side by side?

@TrackFactory

@@dominicallen2953 Great question. That other prong is going to be a 12v power source wire that powers the switch. With this setup I forgot to mention that you will need to run a wire off the fuse block to a power distribution block so you can power your actual switches.
