I just saw them on July 13th in San Francisco and they were great maybe they're psychedelic surf punk music ❤

One of the greatest rock guitar instrumentals! Too bad only surf rock nerds have heard it. I saw them a few times in the Bald Jim Era. Smokin'!

Sorry about the mix up - my original comment "Surf music, a Gretsch, a hot band, and a go-go dancer! What more do you want? " was supposed to go on a Jason Lee and the RIP Tides video - my apologies for the confusion 🙄

THE BEST SONG BY MERMEN´S!

Eddie Bertrand really made his guitar talk when he played Squad Car. It sounded just like a Police Squad Car going to an Emergency. He was so talented and will be missed RIP Eddie. The Surf at Huntington Beach Pier will never be the same nor the Hollywood Bowl Stage or the Santa Monica Pier. Eddie & The Showmen are iconic Surf guitar instrumentalists of the real California Surf Music Instrumental Sound. Historic musicians right up there with the Ventures.

Eddie Bertrand deserves to be inducted into the Surfing Museum in Huntington Beach, California. He was a spectacular guitarist. Rock N' Roll Hall of Fame too needs to induct him and the Showmen! Eddie & The Showmen

Whoa! Excellent tune! I just discovered the Aqua Velvets through reading that beautiful "1967 Homemade Dorm Recording..." thread at Steve Hoffman's forum. That thread has one of the greatest music stories ever, and now not only I discovered Carol Duke and the Marvin Gardens thanks to it, but also The Aqua Velvets! :)

I saw them live a few years ago in Marin County. The guitarist was terrific. His sound was really clean, but the bass player’s sound was too overdriven and muddy.

I've been an admirer of the band since 2000 maybe earlier because of Road Rash 3D , here in Brazil or at least the places i've been, nobody ever heard about or at least doesn't remember any songs of the band. Here i will probably never find a physical media, but at least on streaming platform i use there are a few albums, but is incomplete. That's why fighting against piracy is a dumb move to me. Without piracy, least known great stuff might never find new audience. And that's why i download a lot of pirate stuff that can't be found anywhere else.

While buying the albums is the best way to support the band, you can find lots of recordings of live shows from them on the Live Music Archive at archive.org/details/Mermen
