All-star cast? As no other! My Hercule Poirot? Only one exists really -- Ustinov. No humorless hard edginess there, just polished erudition and sophistication loudly lacking in his would-be imitators. Only one single thing is lacking tho > NO STEREOPHONIC SOUND < for the otherwise excellent soundtrack -- only mono! How COULD they have omitted this essential? No matter really. All the rest comes together and proceeds to perfection.

I read in Wikipedia that Joss Ackland's family home was destroyed by fire, so that could be why the movie's dream sequence included a fire. How terrifying to lose one's home that way.

Anne Bancroft, Helen Mirren and Brian Dennehy were great but Olivier Martinez can hardly act and his kevin costner voice does not help either.

"One Special Night" with Julie Andrews and James Garner is a very good movie about older people falling in love. It came out a few years after this one. Third movie that Julie and James made together. Their chemistry is still as natural as it was when they were young then middle-aged in the first two movies. "One Special Night" is less awkward than "Daisies in December", maybe for that reason.

I've seen this and the Rosalind Russel versions before, and only just now for the first time did it occur to me just how much of a narcissist Mama Rose is. It's like a textbook example. If this is actually anywhere near close to a "true story", she must have been an absolute nightmare as a mother. The character in the play/movie uses everyone around her until they wise up and flee her - and she never learns the lesson. She even asks Herbie why everyone winds up leaving her - only to conclude she's not the problem. Even at the end where she for a moment is so close to breaking through, Gypsy steps in to enable her delusions. I realize that's for the story - a "I realize I'm a selfish monster and I've destroyed my life and harmed everyone around me" wouldn't be a very snappy ending for a musical. It's kind of shocking when you step back and realize the actual story here is an abusive, narcissistic "devouring mother" who sacrifices everything - and everyone - to herself.

I must say. My family has Missouri Fox Trotters We breed them train them sell them and make quite a dab of money of them. Fos Trotter aren't a running breed, especially fox hunting and Kentucky Derby race house. They, Fox Trotters, have a specific Trott and a Gauter for competition So why do they keep refererring to a Fox Trotter breed, is misleading info. Completely false. as a fox hunting breed or Kentucky Derby?? Other than that, I'm loving this mini series Quarter Horses are a fast running breed but entirety too heavy stock for racing in the Kentucky Derby, I believe theyre actually Tennessee Walkers, in the Kentucky Derby and Fox Hunting horses.

I was fascinated to learn that Margaret Mitchell is who began the sequel Scarlett and that many years later her estate paid for a writer to finish it as Ms Mitchell had died before she finished it.

I didn't enjoy the movie. Desiree's speaking of herself in 3rd person got monotonous. The mother's constant overly-protective deception got annoying. Seriously, the truth is always better than a lie. The child could have come terms with her loss much quicker if her mom had been truthful from the beginning. The movie would be much better if they had gotten to the heart of the story much sooner and left out all the 3rd person Desi talk and overly-protective mother scenes.

Superb movie! God doesn't deliver us from all of our problems but He's always with us and helps us endure them. When we focus on Him and trust Him to work all things out for our good, He is faithful to do so. It may not be how we expect but His plan is better than ours. Glory be to God. He is our Source, our Provider, our Defender, our Redeemer. He is all things to us. If He is not at this time in your life, He is waiting for you with open arms. We were never meant to do life alone. He's brought me through some very dark and desperate times. I did not deserve it but Jesus sacrificed all for us...all mankind. Praise be to God. Thank You, Jesus. To God be the glory. 🙌✝️❤️

12:18 Why is Gracie reading like a 3rd grader?? Didn't they say her testing was superb? She clearly does well in school. Odd that her high-school class didn't even snicker at her poor reading, they would have laughed their heads off cruelly at her...at my school.
