I’d like to share my mom’s experience in the hope of alleviating some fears surrounding nerve damage due to surgical interventions like facelifts. My mom underwent a facelift in Munich, Germany, with Dr. Dagtekin, but unfortunately, the procedure left her with partial paralysis on one side of her face. The surgical intervention affected the nerves responsible for her eye blink, under eyelid, nose, and upper lip. During this challenging time, this video by Dr. Nayak helped me maintain a sense of hope. In her case, it took about six months for her to regain normal appearance and function, although her nose is still gradually improving and hasn’t fully recovered yet. The improvements were slow but noticeable every two weeks. I want to caution anyone considering surgical procedures that this is a potential outcome, and it can be incredibly frightening for the patient and their loved ones. Unfortunately, this risk was not presented to my mom and I in the multiple conversations we’ve had with the doctor beforehand. However, I believe that a positive mindset and hope played a crucial role in my mom's healing journey. She has a resilient spirit and always maintained a positive outlook, which I’m certain contributed significantly to her recovery. Hey doctor I really need your help. I tried gua sha and used it very softly about 5 times in 3 month span. The last time I used it, i used vaseline instead of cream and my face instantly shrink. I was red and inflammed spevially the lip cirners wich I avoided but still touched a bit. ( i always tried to avoid the lips). At first I used baby butt cream and vitamin E cream. Then tried a healing cream. The corners of my lips were still shrunken. Its been about 20 days and im taking alpha amylase and azythromicin for gastro infection and the applying what my ER dermatologist prescribed wich is a high potency anti inflamatory and anti allergic cream for the night and sensillis skin barrier repair for the day wich Ive been apllying since then (since friday). Now I regret I didnt go to the ER sonner. But I didnt know what to do or how to explain how that happened. Im scared and traumatized. I dont know if my face and lips will go back to the shape. My lips are usually numb and feel burned while my lips were usually plump and naturally big. I have nothing in my lips or face no filler or any plastic surgery. I deeply regret using gua sha. The last time my face changed and shrunk in a second spevially the lip corners wich i touched softly just the tips. Do you think my lips will go back to my normal shape? Im scared and traumatized. I only wanted to massage.
