I’m hoping to try training at least once during my life. I see that the Wrestle Factory is doing a Free Workshop soon. I’m also interested in participating in a fantasy camp one day. I think these 1 day sessions are perfect for me to see if it’s for me. Is there anything I should know about the two and if there are any similarities and differences? Thank you :)
@TilWeMakeIt3 күн бұрын
This is a good question, Shawn. The Free Workshop is the same content that we do on Day 1 of training. So it's a very accurate look into what regular training as a pro wrestler looks like. The Fantasy Camp we offer from time to time is a different beast. To summarize it, I would say if you are the person most interested to try climbing to the top rope once, to say that you did it, the Fantasy Camp is for you. It's a one-and-done type experience, as opposed to an entry point into training. Which of those sounds like a better fit for you?
@Shawn_202383 күн бұрын
@@TilWeMakeIt thank you for explaining it. Maybe Fantasy Camp would be better for me just so I can say I got to try it. It should also give me an idea if it’s something I would want to continue doing. Thank you Mike :)

I've been watching your videos for the past 2 years. I wanted to get as much advice as possible before starting training at a wrestling school. I plan to attend the Freelance Wrestling Academy in Chicago before the year ends. The reason I chose this academy is because of the hours. William Morrissey (formerly known as Big Cass in WWE and as Big Bill in AEW) advised me to get in the ring as much as possible. I'm really nervous about this because I'm only 25 right now but I won't let that derail me from my dream of making it be when I was a little 6-year-old kid.

I am not training to be a professional wrestler, nor will I be, but I did once take a front bump on my chest on concrete. I was running on a NYC street trying to make a subway connection on time and I did not notice a pile of wooden signs lying on the ground. They were slick and before I knew what happened the ground was rising fast. Fortunately, I turned my head and resisted the urge to put my hands out. I landed flat on my chest, and although it hurt I could tell that I was uninjured. I immediately got up with a "I meant to do that" look on my face and hurried off.

Are there any moves you consider “public domain” like say a martial arts move? Also should it go by who’s been in the locker room longer or who’s higher on the card?
@Lightman03594 күн бұрын
Seniority. If Shawn Michaels is on the card, doesn't matter if you are headlining and he is in the opener: No super kicks. Jeff Hardy on the Card: no Swanton Bomb. An exception could be if you are booked as being associated with them, like when AJ Sytles was going through his Nature Boy phase and did the figure-4, or Michael Shane being "Shawn Michael's Cousin" and thus being a knock-off HBK, or the most famous move stealer: Kane, Though Kane used the Tombstone as a Signature and Chokeslam to Hell as a Finisher while Taker had Chokeslam as a Signature and Tombstone into Pin as his Finish. There could also be a case where you have the blessing of the master or innovator of the move, like Kevin Owens with the Stunner or Randy Orton with the Diamond Cutter [yes the RKO is a Diamond Cutter]
@starshipjive4114 күн бұрын
@@Lightman0359 Thank you. So even if neither of you invented/innovated it.
@Lightman03594 күн бұрын
@starshipjive411 at the end of the day, it is about respect and keeping the moves impactful. Due to over-use many finishers and signatures have downgraded to transitional moves. Leg Drop/Elbow drop used to be certified finishers in the Golden Era, but demoted to signatures at best in the New Generation Era, and by Attitude Era were either transitional moves (like Taker doing the apron/guillotine legdrop) or comedy moves like the People's Elbow, W.O.R.M., Shakey-Head Knee Drop, and so on. The New Generation and Attitude Era had the Power Bomb. Diesel, Albert, Bubba Ray, D'lo, Taker and a few others did a Powerbomb finisher, (but rarely on the same show, and the others didn't do them while Nash was with wrestling) going back to Kevin Owens, he asked Austin to use the Stunner because so many people were using generic powerbombs that it didn't feel like a finisher anymore. I joke that Biker Taker is a Diesel knockoff, right down to the finisher, but would either the Last Ride or Jacknife be considered a finisher if someone other than Nash or Taker did them? And then there is the poster twins of overused moves: Spears and Super-Kicks. I'd kinda like to see a Phalanx Battle Royale (because of all the spears) between Goldberg, Edge, Rhyno, Roman and all the other spear enthusiasts, last man standing gets to keep it.

Thanks Tony, I appreciate you! There’s lots of great heels from previous generations to explore, and to take inspiration from. Especially if can avoid material heels of the last 15 years or so used, I bet you can come up with a move set that both aligns with your character and feels unique.
