Mine was horrible to start the first time. I had to keep the gas up about half. I still have backfire issues with mine. I wish this this had auto idle. For 800$+ this unit should be a better gun..i think they feel cheap. I'll probably have to adjust the valves. I havent contacted simpson about my issues yet. I also had to get a new hose the monster hose is horribly stiff. I have the stainless steel surface cleaner, 15" , with 4 casters. Its works really well.

I just bought one from home depot and it was shipped FedEx, when FedEx opened the truck door the box was upside-down. There was holes in the box, damage to pump , and missing pieces. FedEx screwed this one up, but I will say the way they package this unit is ridiculous.

You did not set the chock properly at first start up. It needed to be all the way to the left.

Just picked up the same Alh3228… did you ever have trouble with the amount of oil you put in it? The bag provided is 1 liter and the GX200 specs say .59l in the manual. Or about 20oz. The dip sticks on these motors are never very accurate and are pretty vague.

I just picked up the same model and im also not sure what to do. Did you only put .59l ?

Cassie, I have been researching this unit like crazy. Have read that they are shipped with 4oz already in unit due to factory testing before shipping out. So you only need to add 16 oz more. But yes, I agree, dipsticks are not always accurate.

Would you please post the model number of the Cat water pump? I've looked online and can't seem to find the model number or specs for that particular pump.

How has it held up?

It's held up really well. I did 5 driveways in the first 2 months. Then didnt crank it for 4 months (against my own standards) and it started up in 5 pulls. 3 with the choke and 2 without.

40 degree nozzle ok with using to clean cars or is this unit too powerful and will chip paint?

Well, as long as you stay at least a foot away you should be good. I tried to blast some gunk off of our trunk and chipped it, so I learned the hard way unfortunately.

After reviewing the instruction manual, I discovered that the PS3228 pressure washer (which I own) has a knob for manual adjustment of the pressure on the water pump. However, the exact range of adjustment is unclear. I was about to say that, given this adjustability, you'd probably be fine, maybe even with the 25° tip for pre-wash. But now I realize that the unit reviewed above was the ALH3228 with a slightly different pump that I'm not familiar with. Nevertheless, Simpson makes a small attachment for around $25 called the Dial-N-Wash with standard fittings that goes between the gun and wand. It allows you to easily dial the pressure from the unit's maximum (< 4500 PSI) down to around 1000 PSI. That's even a bit low, as the recommended range for washing vehicles is more like 1400-1900 PSI. Needless to say, even with manual adjustability, being able to make that adjustment on the spray gun instead of having to walk back to the unit and twist a very stiff knob at shin height is super convenient.

@@SeamasterSig so in the theory you can buy the 4200 psi Simpson model but add on the dial n wash and turn it down to whatever psi you want and then you can have that ability to go up to 4200 instead of being limited to just 3400psi. So to me it would make much more sense to spend the extra money on the 4200 psi model and just dial it down to whatever pressure you need but you can that option of using higher psi if you need it
@SeamasterSig
@SeamasterSig 2 жыл бұрын
@@parkerk7018 That is an awful lot of pressure; it will ramp up more quickly to reach 4200 vs 3400 PSI. But yes, that is how I understand it. Some of the online listings for the Dial-N-Wash only state the maximum pressure without explicitly stating the lower limit - the dial just shows an automobile silhouette at the lower limit. Nevertheless, I clearly remember seeing some listings indicating an adjustment range of 1000 PSI to the maximum pressure of 4500 PSI. If I remember correctly, that's also what it says on the back of the box (you can find images of the box online). Mine has functioned flawlessly so far. You should be good to go.

@@SeamasterSig which model do you have the 3400psi model like in the video? Have you had any complaints with it? I’m thinking about getting that. I’m torn between the 3400psi model and the 4200psi model. I definitely want the cat pump (you pay more for that) but I’d be happy with a 3600 model and like 3gpm or 3.5gpm. I understand with 4200psi it will be a lot more tougher to control it’s a lot of pressure to hold back, of course you don’t always need that high psi but of course it would be nice to have the option of having it if you ever need it. That’s why I like the idea of the dial n wash you can adjust to like 1000psi like you said all the way to 4500 if you need it . I’m upgrading from a 2800psi 2.3gpm pressure washer and I was just wondering if 3400psi and 2.5gpm would be a be difference or not. The thing with pressure washers is that you always feel like you need more pressure to get stuff done faster,
