I like that kind of windsurfing, but... I got rid of my 9.5 sail because it was a beast and wore me out. I still have a 8.5 that I keep around for insurance to sail on super light days. But I mostly sail with a 5.5 or 6.5 sail and just cruise along at less than planing speeds. A 7.5 sail feels pretty big.

Fantastic tips, very much appreciated, this will get more valuable time on the water and help prevent some of the faff that comes with foiling. cheers

Great video! We've been running some informal races in Virginia Beach/Norfolk area. Do you always race windward-leeward courses? We've been mixing in some slalom for the newer wingers who can't go upwind and getting better turnouts.

Nice. I have one tip as well I attach my leashes to the wing via a short pigtail with a ball stopper the larks head the leash to it. When you finish a session disconnect and let it dry separately from your wing.
@AlanAllegret
@AlanAllegret Жыл бұрын
Oh yeah that is a really good point Dan! Leashes covered in fabric (as opposed to plastic like coiled leashes) do keep moisture in the wing bag. In fact I have the exact same issue with my board leash/harness, and my current solution is to let it run out of the board bag and attach it to the same carabiner (quickdraw, rather) shown in the video. The advantage I guess is that it stays attached to the board, so no chance to forget it at home. Can you share (link or picture) what kind of pigtail you're using?

Some very nice tips there. Thanks so much for sharing! I would like to share a few tips of mine: I store my nuts and bolts in a small PET bottle, so I can easily find them and I have the bottles screw-top anchored to the bottle with a piece of rope, to not lose it on the beach. I also keep a laminated check list with my gear, because I forgot my mast at home once.

How did you like the rigid handles of the wing?
@AlanAllegret
@AlanAllegret Жыл бұрын
I'm used to them since my own wing (Duotone Unit) has rigid handles. But I did try soft handles in La Ventana and they're pretty awful in comparison. So, rigid handles for the win! I do like that the corners of Cabrinha Mantis handles (wing in this video) are more rounded and also wrapped in fabric (not hard plastic like the Unit). This is better for avoiding damaging the board!
