Yeah it started and drove onto the tow truck just fine. But the roof structure was compromised and even though all the doors opened and closed, the gaps were off. I'm glad they totaled it b/c I wouldn't have trusted it anymore.

@TrailTape I agree. Just making a half hearted attempt at a joke about Toyota reliability. Try to find a used Pro version to replace it. I've had a 4th gen, a 5th gen trail, and a 5th gen pro. The pro is hands down the best of the 3.

@@TrailTape we always go in late September due to temps fail colors and fewer people. We usually do Moab too. We have run into snow. One year Imogene was closed and another year we did Ophir with about 8 inches at the pass
@OverlandPNW Жыл бұрын
We used to have a motorcycle trail group called 3RPM (Roots, Rocks, Rut, Puddles and Mud) because 90% of the time that's what the trails are like here in the Pacific Northwest. That also pretty much describes the trail in this video ha ha! Those were some deep, muddy ruts but you guys made it look easy. Those traction boards came in handy! Great video!
@TrailTape Жыл бұрын
Haha, that's a great name. Thanks for watching! Yeah I'm still stock suspension and winch-less so the traction boards are vital. This trip let me compare my red Xbulls (cheap) vs the orange real Maxtrax. The flexibility of the Matrax let them contour to the tires which gave some extra traction when getting up over a ledge. So they were a little worse as a ramp, but better as a traction aid.
@OverlandPNW Жыл бұрын
@@TrailTape oh, good to know. I haven’t done a lot of comparison on traction boards.
@TrailTape Жыл бұрын
@@OverlandPNW For the money and especially as a first set, the Xbulls are good. They get the job done and are about 1/5th the cost of Maxtrax. But after being on my roof for about 18 months they now develop small cracks starting at the ends every time I use them. They won't last forever, but even a broken or damaged traction board still adds traction! However, if you have the means to buy them Maxtrax are definitely a superior product.
