ive seen alot of people saying that 'memory maps' with hema loaded into is far better, what do you think about this?

I have not used memory maps so not quite sure. I have found Explore Oz mapping system to be very good.

Great idea with using Anderson connectors on both sides, so you can still use your alligator clips to your battery if needed. I will be doing the same, thank you

Can you fill them while on horizontal? And if filled horizontally will they hold the same amount?
@4xTouring2 ай бұрын
I have never filled them whilst horizontal. So not quite sure. Petrol stations here does not allow filling when the cans as on the roof.

I will be straight, no car is eco. Eco mode is a thing changing something that has no impact on fuel economy or engiroment but makes the driver less guilty about driving
@Shtevelhead2 ай бұрын
No...ECO=ECONOMY NOT ECOLOGY. When used in conjunction with proper driving techniques it will burn LESS fuel, emit LESS emissions and cost LESS to drive.

I have been thinking of doing this to my 80 for over 10 years. Maybe installing the portable compressor behind the 3rd row seat side panels, under the passenger seat or under the bonnet (with some heat shield) and running a air line to the bullbar and rear bar with air line connection and running the on/off switch on the compressor to my switch panel. Great vid liked and subbed but i would put heat shrink on connections and maybe a inline fuse on the power connection even if you have a fused switch panel as sometimes these portable compressors do pull more power than advertised.
@4xTouring3 ай бұрын
I have an inline fuse too. Something I did not mention in the video, I keep the engine running whilst inflating. This helps the battery along.

@@4xTouring its a great vid mate simple and easy to follow instructions without stupid music, also its a nice looking 80 series but I still don't trust Anderson plugs for some applications even the proper Anderson plugs are only rated to 120a constant power and 50a hot swap. Some things like compressors and inverters I prefer to hard wire to the battery with thicker cables and a shorter cable run as the heat up when using them.
@jamesuk12953 ай бұрын
Nice video, I think the main reason why it takes ages to charge is because the micro USB charging cables provided with the product are extremely low quality and the metals used are especially so the voltage goes up and down all the time.
@4xTouring3 ай бұрын
You are right. It was a very cheap product. Amazing these units still work after all these years. :)

Hi Duncan. This is the exact same issue for the people that run HID's in their vehicles.... I do wish they would update the ADR's here in Australia as we are way behind in the rules and every state has their own set of rules of what is approved and what is not so travelling from one state you might be Legal but head into another state and you are NOT Legal which really sux....

Hi Tim. It is pretty frustrating. so many grey areas in the law.

Thanks for the clarification. What about a gel battery that I can only use 50% of its capacity? Thank you
@4xTouring3 ай бұрын
This applies to gel as well. It is not that you can not push it beyond 50%. But the more often you do it, the faster the lifespan reduces.

I daily drive a petrol 80 series now after having a few turbo diesel vehicles, it's fantastic, servicing is easier and cheaper and if things go bad engine wise it's no big deal, an engine rebuild on my previous common rail turbo diesel which was getting high in km's would cost more than I paid for my fzj80, it's robust, cool, simple and has a huge amount of support for parts and so on, I like your rig and your logic and approach, 2 inches and 33's is perfect for touring, I have the same set-up.
@4xTouring3 ай бұрын
A friend of mine had the same issue with his turbo diesel 80. Engine rebuild cost him close to A$14,000. Way more than what he paid for the vehicle. A petrol motor is around half that. It makes a lot more sense on the financial numbers to go petrol. Many argue that petrol has a lot less torque than a diesel. But for touring i am yet to come into a situation where I run out of torque on my petrol.

I love your car 80series are beautiful magic machines last off the best 4x4s made 😍 be careful the antennas are ok but the spotlight above the bullbar is illegal unfortunately even fishing rod holders are too something about pedestrians getting run over them things can kill them 🤔

I too am a big fan of the 80 series. Have to agree, the best Toyota ever made before they went ultra luxury. The LED light bar, I had it checked by a friend of mine in the police. he said if it protrudes beyond the bull bar then it is illegal. mine is flush with the bar.
