Orlando Airport helipad is calling your name for a redo. It's pretty scenic honestly. Great sunrise vista.

It had to be Pikes Peak in Colorado Springs. That mountain is straight up in the city's zip code.

Can someone explain how he does this with almost no water or food? I'm somewhat in shape, and when I ran R to R to R (granted, it was hotter, in late spring) I needed liters and liters of water and sandwiches, bars, gels, salt tabs, etc. etc. What is happening inside his body that lets him run with no fuel?
@runsteepgethigh17 күн бұрын
He did have fuel with him and had a crew meet at the North Rim. It’s a sub 6 hour effort in October when it was cool out and so he didn’t need a lot.

Just here to revisit one of the best trail running videos out there. There's nothing quite like the feeling of racing ultra distances with such stiff competition. Just knowing that one of you is going to lose, and desperately fighting so that it's not you.

8yrs later and this is still just as amazing as day 1. It's the gold standard. Hearing him say that he got to the river (down the 6.5mi S. Kaibab Trail) in 39-40 minutes, just further shows the insanity of this FKT, and Jim's incredible trail running skill.
@wcomalleyАй бұрын
what was the previous record? how long should it take to get down to that river?
@austinado16Ай бұрын
@@wcomalley Please be more specific with what you're asking: 1) The previous record for what...an R2 or an R3? Jim holds both, from just this one run. 2) How long does it take to get to the river, from which trail, and which side of the Canyon? Hiking? Backpacking? Normal trail running? Or full send sprinting by an elite like Jim? You can hear Jim say in the video that he went down S. Kaibab Trail, (which is 6.5mi to the entrance to Black Bridge, and 5,000' of elevation drop) and that it took him 39 to 40 minutes. This is so fast, that it's just impossible to fathom. Look at the trail conditions as shown by KZfaqr Rubi Hammer, in 4K, and watch my recent run there: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/rM6qapWIxMe-e5s.html and you'll see how incredible Jim's run is. 3) They mention the previous record at the start of the video, and it was several hours longer than Jim's 2 and change.

Jamil - I just signed up for EldenCrest 38 2025... After watching this video and seeing how confusing it is (all those gates!) I am concerned I will get get lost on race day :( Esp if i'm in the dark. Do you have any tips?

Jim leaves NK trailhead at 5:10 into the video, and arrives at redwall bridge, (the 5k mark) at 23:35. This is the most effortless 18:25 5K I’ve ever seen

Awesome!! Im inspired. For all the awesome volunteering out there at our ultra races. please dont touch someones food with your bare a$$ hands @ 19:16. use gloves utensils etc and common sense. Ultra hands are super super germy and runner immune systems are suceptible.

I’m thinking she’s focusing so much on not tripping on a rock or root that she really can’t look up to see that awesome view around her. One of the sacrifices with speed and an aggressive ambition. FOCUS.❤ But hey, she’s got a video she can look back on and see that view !
