Even though it was a hot start the oil pressure is way too low for a 41 at idle.

I have customers out there that are over 5,000 hours and still running fine. The environment where it's run and how it's taken care of usually governs how long it lasts.

It amazes me there is not a single video on KZfaq on how to do routine maintenance on the 5ECD 🤷♂️. I’ve got one in my Rinker 260. It’s been flawless so far.

Thanks for the comments. I do have most everything to build at least 1, maybe 2 4LH-STE or STP. I'm selling off my stockpile of engines and parts from 48 years of working the marine business. I need to inventory what I have. Would you like a running engine, or can you build?

take it easy on the revving bfr it warms up this size (about 8 mins)... u can tell the stress when it lows rpm at the end of the video.. Fantastic Engine..!!👍

Check oil level. Check oil being thinned out by injection problems. Check with mechanical oil guage to eliminate electrical problems.

good afternoon ! there was a problem, one engine does not gain momentum, it reaches 2500 and that's it, but it should gain 3100, the feeling that the turbine does not turn on, what could be the reason, tell me!?

Need to eliminate known good components... filter, air cooler, injection pump and timing, injectors, even compression, fuel delivery, hull condition, props, etc. Old fashioned trouble shooting. That is a dying art. No plugging in a computer for this one.

What does rebuilding a westerbeke entail? I have one that needs a new backend.

@@kirkdrew8868 I’m not in a hurry, I would just like to know with confidence that a 5K Westerbeke would fit comfortably in my boat, which is a 2001 Wellcraft Coastal 270 Tournament Edition. I’ve researched as much as I could, but there isn’t a lot of information out there to know what generator they use in that boat.

Why are you running the motor without any water going through the raw water pump ?

On start up I don't put in the impeller. I hang it from the pump and advise customer to install it before the boat hits the water. My last 2 boats that the engines were installed didn't go into service for almost 2 years after I delivered them.
