Canada is a unique combination of Socialism and Corporatism. Government funnels money from the middle class to "the disadvantaged" and corporations. Even then, corporations get the lion's share of the funds. Bombardier, the Banks, Grocery stores, The Irving Group, SNC Lavalin at just a few examples.

Sounds great but let's see the plan to make this happen. Without a credible plan to deliver this "Promised Land" Mr. Williams talks about, his discussion has no meaning to me and I am no fan of the Liberals!

You sound like a socialist/NDP lol Anyways, what you guys should also focus on is immigration. Will the Conservative Party make it more strict to immigrate? Lots of international students take advantage of the student visa in order to get points to become a permanent resident then transfer to Canadian Citizenship. Also will the Conservative Party reduce employment tax income? All I hear is Carbon tax.

The thing is new companies get more taxed by government. Less likely to get loans from these banks. It gets difficult for them to find skilled workers as they're moving out of country

New policy 😂 For simplicity, rules and regulations need to be reduced. More rules mean another bump to a new company, well established corporation can easily find a way to out of it and new companies facing another challenge

We don't need a government to do anything more than protect private property rights. We don't need them interfering with mergers. If the mergers work in a fee market it is to the consumers benefit. Antitrust legislation produces a cartel of the second raters that second guesses what is best for the consumer but aims at reducing the effiencies that come from the economies of scale in order to reap economic rents themselves. These cartels end up restricting competition too and ultimately turn into monopoly. Just get the government out of the f'n way is all that is needed.

Very well done video!!! I’ve done podcasts talking about this exact issue with professionals in the financial sector who said exactly that! “How do we create better pricing in Canada? Through more competition!!” It’s a very great point to highlight and an issue that has to begin to be solved!! Canadians deserve a free market fulled by capitalist growth encouraging better services with more competitive pricing 🇨🇦

Here's a fun fact... the governor general could have shut down this bullshit a long time ago... but it's been good for the conservatives no matter how many people are dying in the streets from opiates... it doesn't matter how many of our fellow citizens are dying from hyper cancer from experimental gene therapy.... she could have pulled the plug after the first ethics violation... so as far as I'm concerned the Conservative Party of Canada is 100% complicit in all of it 🤘🏻💀

I have a degree in the liberal arts (English literature degree) and in the humanities and I disagree with everything in this video, especially if it comes from a heteronormative cisgender conservative white male. We should strive for socialism which ensures equal distribution of wealth over capitalism and competition.

this video is funny because our electoral system is an oligopoly, whoever we elect will screw us over. The liberals all said the same thing 8 years ago, they said it 4 years ago. I can guarantee you that we will not get monopolies broken apart, lower costs for housing, or whatever else these people are saying.

Canadians demand that illegal taxation end ...period. As well we demand to witness the documented evidence of all members of parliament's vaccine status. Sounds petty right?. Right. No jab - No job. We've had enough.

I love how this video was speaking out in favor of conservatives saying they will change Canada, they were in power before the current government, including the current leader of conservatives was part of, which did nothing to change it. 😂

increased competition is a nice thought, but is our market big enough for more companies to operate profitably? hsbc was leaving canada. tangerine left as well. selling off their canadian divisions. why is that? before opening up the floodgates, on an industry by industry level, we would need to answer that question.

The privatization movement was a mistake, some things are natural monopolies (look it up) and when they were privatized it just took it out of the hands of the government and put it into the hands of their cronies. We do need more competition (where it's called for) and could actually use more government investment into privatizing (ontop of some of the suggestions here regarding stopping mergers and doing some break-ups). We should look into how the Japanese broke up the Zaibatsu after WWII. Their government would invest in two competing companies to forge a new industry, and it worked very well. So no more government investment in single companies, instead invest in two to force some competition

I'm a young guy in my late 20s dreaming of owning and operating my own business one day but the amount of red tape to get through for a start up discourages me. Not to mention the lack of investment from any government for entrepreneurs is another barrier to entry. I love this country and want to stay and build it but the current situation of the nation makes it difficult to stay. Hope this changes soon.

This is why I say voting in Pierre is not gonna do anything. It doesn't matter who we vote in. Because the biggest contributors to their campaigns are these monopolieso. They're not gonna do anything about it, no matter who we vote for. That's just the truth. It doesn't matter who you like things aren't gonna get better. That's that's why i'm planning on leaving the second I can

Actually it's called fascism. Look it up. Basically state run capitalism, except in this case, we just don't synergize the monopolies with government. Who knew it would make everything stagnate in the same way communism would.

The problem is we're a small country of 40 mill right beside a country 10x larger economically and population wise. How many competitors can we realistically expect to want to fight so hard to win over disproportionately less buyers when the US is right there? For consumers to win we need to get absorbed into the US. Under these demographic circumstances (small population beside a massive neighbor) we'll never be anything other than what we are now: mediocre. Also let's not get it twisted. Both libs and cons support all these awful anti competitive policies. They just change their message when they switch from governing to opposition. It's not as simple as voting for a different party. There's no good party and bad party. It's coke and Pepsi -- both are unhealthy.

Ill say this: Me and my future wife (23/20 years old) have completely checked out of the idea of building our family or buying a house in canada. full stop. We see so many issues with the country and so few benefits that cant be found elsewhere. Even if benefits such as 'free' healthcare exist, medical insurance + tax is ALWAYS lower than my taxes here. Many of my friends have expressed similar desires to leave - no one wants to dedicate their life to working a job where you never build towards any real legacy... everyone here is just a cog spinning to make someone else 100x ur hourly pay, the ei cheque collectors, or the boomers with amazing pensions from better times. in my opinion, the country has 5 years to do a full 180 or we are moving to south america... i dont have any real hope this will happen. Good luck.

Start by removing all restrictions on getting goods and services from outside the country. If you live near the border, you should be able to get groceries, Internet service, cellular service, etc. from the United States. Foreign companies such as airlines should be allowed to offer their services in Canada. Government monopolies ("marketing boards") for dairy and other products shouldn't exist.

You put many houses in the cover page, but how can you miss the housing problem, if you are to discuss the grand economic issue at all? The grocery price is in allignment with USA and FDA got to say what goes on shelf. Bank interest rate is hooked essentially to USA federal reserve, Canada actually don't have independency on monetary policy. These industry are sophisticated, worth tens of hours to cover. But I agree given there already few players in the fields, there should be lessor or no mergers, in the spirit of antitrust law.
