When it comes to the musical theater realm, here are two Nathan Lane plot twists. 2 years after Guys And Dolls get revived on Broadway again, Nathan Detroit and Harry the horse decided to give up gambling and Nathan divorced Adelaide and Nathan and Harry ran away to Africa to become African creatures. Or 7 years later, Timon and Simba decided to produce Springtime For Hitler on Broadway

I’ve never listened to or watched Les Mis before, but I finally listened to the entire 10th anniversary concert yesterday, and I’m obsessed. And now, I am discovering that I also first listened to these songs in their best version, as well! It seems Colm and Quast are unquestionably the best performers of their respective songs. Many of these men are great vocalists, but I’m not hearing any of them bring as much emotion and agony to Stars or Bring Him Home as Colm and Quast do.

I don't think in my lifetime there will ever be a production that musically will surpass Les Miserables. It is spectacular. Thrilled to see Showboat on the list. As a young child, my mother and I watched it repeatedly on television, then saw it on stage. Not only is the music incredible, but the message is so powerful, especially considering the time frame in which it was produced). I will have to watch the 1936 version, haven't seen that one. Great job!

Can we pause and give the musicians their flowers as well? Those songs are classic just like the voices.

This is a period piece. Not about hate. This was the reality the dregs of France lived, no existed, in. Hugo is pointing out the terribleness of the disparities of the lifes and times

The first time I listened to Les Mis, I was 14-ish and my fav songs were One day more, Do you hear the people sing, Red and black, Who am I and Confrontation (no particular order). The second time is now, second year of college and the list I've been listening on repeat to now is Stars, Javert's suicide, Drink with me (which came as a beautifully wonderful shock, since I didn't even remember it from the first listen-through), What have I done... and freaking Master of the house. I'm not sure I like the implications of this)

Obviously opinion is subjective and this was a massive undertaking. It was hard to disagree with the general order with some personal exceptions, JCS for me is practically top ten for the raw emotion, Fiddler does deserve to be higher for its legacy and a couple of memorable songs. Oklahoma I'd have higher for my own nostalgia. I probably would have swapped Little Shop and Cinderella. She Loves Me could drop 10 or more. And Phantom really deserves a top 10 for the reasons you mention (Carlotta is the offset for Christine, so the audience roots for her success.) I'd drop Aladdin down a few, just was not impressed outside of stage effects and Genie! The way the music of Woods intertwines (as well as the stories) makes this a difficult sing, but such a great show. Anything goes suffers from the lack of plot, never been a favorite having seen multiple versions. Surprise King & I was this high, decent songs, but I could swap Fiddler here and feel fine about it. Miss Saigon has fallen for me over time, probably would be 15-20. Can't argue with the top 5, Les Miz being far and away #1. To perform, watch and enjoy!

Little late to the party. On My Own is way to low on the list if youre going to use Lea Salongas performance. Maybe the song in general but shes kills that song. I dont hate the rest of the rankings but for me with her that easily beats any of her duets.

Love Colm. Went to the movie theatre to see it. When Javer was singing Stars, I kept whispering Jump Now! Michael Ball made me laugh when he sadly said that he can never be Marius again. Fessing up I cried at the end of the movie when Colm reached out his hand to Valjean. It's been amazing to see Lea grow up from Miss Saigon to Les Mix. Thank you.
