Yes, I have opened cans with my Germany Army pocketknife. It wors as it is just as if you were using one of the hook or beak type can openers. It works much better than you think it will.

I have two knives that look exactly like trappers, but instead of a spey blade, they have a saw that locks on opening. Do you know them? If so, why do they chose to have the lock in the saw instead of in the cutting blade were it would be more useful?
@ISLANDOUTDOORS1Ай бұрын
I've seen them. Saws sometimes cut on the push stroke and tend to want to close up. Maybe why the lock. Cool knives.

Honestly I prefer the older traditional look rather than the cool tactical knives we see today.

Love Schrade/Old Timer/Uncle Henry!! Thanks for sharing this information. I did a review of the Schrade/Old Timer/Uncle Henry knives that I have in my collection. Would love to have some more of the Old Timer pocketknives, most of my collection are the hunting knives.

bought a camper from 1968 7 years ago. I was going through some crevices just now and found this knife. 4 pin. Mint condition. Like it was stashed back here in the 70s and forgotten about. Thats why i found your video. What is it worth?
@ISLANDOUTDOORS14 ай бұрын
It's probably a 40 to 50 dollar knife. But maybe more. I haven't priced one on ebay for a few years.

Greetings , I bought one of these new back in 1981. Became my favorite pocket knife and carried it every day when I worked construction in the elevator trade. The schrade in my pocket and a large lockback on my belt … started to work lighter when I started doing elevator maint. I swapped the lockback for a Spyderco delica . But always kept the liner lock .. kept an edge and was easy to sharp when I had too . Had to keep it oiled though .. usually after I oiled it I metal polished the blade to keep it nice.

Would it be legal for me to pick one of these up and disassemble it and then reassemble it with pure stainless steel, maybe like 310 or 308 stainless?

Mine had the lanyard hole and didn't have the lock and had two blades and was called the trapper 25OT. The profile looks almost identical minus the lanyard hole.

I am not a collector, but I do have an 8OT with match strike nail nick marked in three lines: Schrade N.Y. USA 8OT, It shows signs of a good bit of use on all three blades but they are not broken. When I got it, it had a lot of gunk on the blades that looked like hardened glue. I scraped it all off and lightly sanded all the blades. (Maybe I shouldn't have done that, but I like it better than before I sanded it, and I am not worried about the collector value.) I assume from what you said that it was made in 1973. I enjoyed your video. And I wanted to tell you that my cat showed a lot of interest in smelling the knife. She sniffed at it for a full minute; I wonder if the glue that I removed was hide glue, which might indicate that a previous owner was a woodworker. It's fun to think about who might have owned it, what they did with it, and where it has been.

Nice knife! I'm glad you got it cleaned up and are using it. Even with worn blades I think it still has plenty of life left in it. Thanks for sharing!

It’s a Jack knife. Stockman is the name that Case gives to their three bladed knives. Schrade calls them a Middleman Jack. Case calls their almost identical knife a midsized Stockman. I own both knives, as well as the Old Timer 330T, a two bladed knife. The 340T is also heavier than my Case 6344 Stockman. I carry pocket knives in my pocket, regardless of which on I carry.
