Final Update to RT as of July 23rd, 2024. Roosterteeth is officially dead after almost 20 years of being active, Viz media owns the rights to RWBY now, as of results for a volume 10, nobody knows what will come of the franchise. Personally I feel Viz should reboot and start fresh from the ground up following Monty’s original vision of the series. Kerry and Miles still work on RWBY but only time will tell until either Viz gets rid of them, or if Viz will limit them.

Update as of today March 6th 2024. Rooster teeth has officially been shut down by Warner media. They plan on selling RWBY, red vs blue and Gen lock to whoever is interested. In the end after every scandal, Shane won and has been vilified right to the point even Miles Luna, Kerry and many others admit to the companies faults and acknowledge the controversies that could have been prevented. Shane’s letter is forever vilified and correct for how this company was. And forever will be known as. And Vic Mignogna won in the end. He might of lost the appeals but in the end he won the public opinion, still voice acts, and is no longer tied to a company with so much skeletons. This video aged like the most expensive and finest wines imaginable.

Unpopular opinion. Gits sac would have been better if the major had more clothes on and if the tachikomas had deeper adult voices. Maybe with the power of AI art programs in the future this salty take can be brought to fruition 😊.

Even though this anime is almost 20 years old now, it's actually kind of scary how well it predicted the problems that we're now facing with the internet, social media, false information, internet culture, cybersecurity and artificial intelligence here in 2023. The fact that show takes place in the year 2024 (less than a year from now) seems like both a warning and a cruel irony.

@@The__Creeper Social media didn't exist when SAC came out, which means false information was a lot less of a problem not to mention there was barely an internet culture at that time. They were hardly problems back then.

@@JtothePrez Yes, social media did exist in 2003. It's much older than you realize and there was a massive internet culture at the time. You really shouldn't talk about topics you weren't alive to experience and haven't bothered to do any research into. "There were hardly problems back then." There was literally an entire war in 2003 that only happened because of false information. Please do some research into the history of the internet and also the Iraq War. GiTS SAC was literally based on things happening at the time of production, including 9/11, the "war on terror" (the second season is literally about Japan's involvement in the Iraq War and the Japanese election in 2003), and internet culture of the time. This isn't a speculative science fiction show about a possible future, it's saying the shit happening in 2002-2004 was fucking shit.

@@The__Creeper "You really shouldn't talk about topics you weren't alive to experience and haven't bothered to do any research into. " Tell me what year I was born then, Einstein. You seem to have a massive chip on your shoulder for no apparent reason. Social media may have existed but it was not nearly as widespread as it is today. There were far less computers and internet users back then as I was very much alive and in the double digit age range to see it. Nobody said there weren't any problems, I said there were hardly problems compared to the sheer volume and scale of false information on the internet today. In this day and age there are more active cellphones than there are people which gives you an idea of how much bigger the user base is now not to mention how data scraping and research into retention time has only increased with the size and speed of the internet itself. The number of problems in 2003's internet were a drop in the bucket.

@@JtothePrez Ghost in the Shell Stand Alone Complex was literally based on things happening at the time of production. Screaming and crying about nonsense will not change this fact. Once again, the second season is literally based on a war that >>STARTED BECAUSE OF MISINFORMATION!<< I'm sorry your ignorance is making you angry but you are 100% wrong. This show was not a look into the future, it was commentary on current events. This isn't speculation, this is literally what the producers have said in interviews.

Cather in the Rye has a very straightforward message and purpose. Which is to warn people of the pitfalls people will create for you. And the various reasons and means they may create them. And how you may fall into these, pits. That's why it's called, Catcher in the Rye. It isn't far off from the notion of the good shepherd. He explains it in he own words. To paraphrase. There is a maze, or corn field. And in this maze there is a blind drop off of a cliff. And I want to be the one to stand in the maze, and turn people back from this pitfall. I want to be the catcher in the rye. The only goal of either protagonist is to stand in between the people who are lead blind into the maze. And the people who sent them in with the intention of catching them in a pitfall, or trap. Allies situation is no different. The pitfall is simply a means of trapping people into buying a less effective treatment. So a small select group of people, can profit off of their ownership of said product. In the face of a cheap alternative that is more effective. At the cost of peoples lives. Totally unheard of, I know.

Even though the original Laughinh Man never existed, Aoi and the original sender of the message are the originals. An idea and a brain to organize and put events into motion. Let say a homeless guy with little intelligence had the disease and was thought how to use the net in order to distributed information to individuals we knew were smarter than him or more willing to take action. No matter how you see it even a small portion of logical decision making is enough to be dub as an aspect of the birth of the Laughing Man as long as he part of the inception, conception, and the net or physical action. Aoi and this individual are both the Laughing Man, even if corrupt business men first used the logo and word to label Aoi and this individual, The Laughing Man. The real question is whether the original Laughing Man was actually intelligent and knew what would happen or if he was just and random and Aoi simply picked up the pieces thereafter. Personal I like the idea that the original is still out there and is very intelligent, just not the type like Aoi. His or her intellect is moving smart chess pieces that act in independently once properly motivated. So I do believe the original is still out there and will move again one day when the demand is needed. Unless he or she is old, the original Laughing Man still exist.

Gotta say; the episodes you refer to as ‘filler’ are just as important as the others, as they are designated as ‘stand alone’ episodes, which tie in with the series title “Stand Alone Complex.” To me they are some of the more creative episodes as far as episodic plot development is concerned. (They actually interest me more than the Salinger related episodes which by themselves - much as I LOVE THIS AWESOME ANIME - sometimes have my eyes glazing over.) Please don’t underestimate them. - M.

@Drunkonmedia #Drunkonmedia STANDING OVATION BROTHER!!! I gotta hand it to yah, you broke that down in such a masterful way, that made it SO EASY to understand while avoiding all the convoluted pit falls and hang ups this story has (which can EASILY rival ANY metal gear solid or kingdom hearts storyline ever produced )! I've been in love with the GITS universe ever since my mid teens in the late 90's, which was only exasperated ten fold by the time this show started airing on Cartoon Network's late nite Toonami back in the early 2000's. From its time on Toonami, to later having owned the full season box set DVDs, along with everything n anything else GITS related movies or SAC 1 & 2- thank you to my old job at FYE in my local mall back in the day- now THERES a throwback!) back in my mid 20's, to NOW, owning all the GITS content digitally in my mid 30's, I've watched this show in it's entirety 2,3, maybe even 4 times now at different points over the years. And for probably the past two years now I've been contemplating restarting the series again once more. Except, the only thing that's held me back so far is remembering exactly HOW MUCH of an undertaking this story is! Now don't get me wrong, I'm not an idiot. While I know I'm not the smartest person in the world, I also know I'm a bit smarter than what I would consider the average bear. And yet even with a mind like mine- one that genuinely enjoys puzzles, problem solving, and mysteries- I found this series just BEYOND convoluted in an unnecessary, and almost pompous kind of way. Again, don't get me wrong, through all the red herrings, subterfuge and intrigue this story brings, even with broad strokes I've always been able to pick up on most of the finer points involved. HOWEVER, even through the thick of it all, I KNEW there were plenty of plot points I had missed time and again. So I absolutely APPLAUD you in breaking this down in such a easy and digestible manner which in turn has relit the candle I hold for this series and once more piqued my interest. What a magnificent EPIC this story is!! Lastly, on a side note, I found it very interesting that- according to your breakdown of JUST the laughing man episodes/storyline- it's TOGUSA who's the instrumental section 9 officer in solving this case! I've never watched any of the OVA's and have never streamlined the laughing man episodes alone. Any time I've watched this series, it's always been in it's entirety and from that perspective its The Major who usually shines as the series' protagonist. So to see Togusa get some love was pretty cool! Well, I'm off to go see if you have a breakdown for 2nd gig now. Once more my hats off to you brother! Thank you so much for such an awesome video n srry for such a long winded reply! Be well bro- Trent

"The Star Beast", i.e. the original O'bannon script for Alien, was written with all of the roles gender-neutral, so they could cast any person in any role, regardless of race, gender, or other factors, which is fascinating by itself; when you consider the "panty" scene in that context, it could almost be argued that it would be sexist to REMOVE the scene just because you had cast a woman in the role of Ripley, instead of a shirtless, tighty-whitey clad man. Also, the original script called for the characters to be nude when going into and out of "cold sleep", i.e. the Cryopods. Even more interestingly, Sigourney Weaver has mentioned many times in interviews that she had fought to actually do the scene nude herself, and it was Ridley Scott who had talked her out of it, counseling her that might negatively impact her career going forward, as some in the industry might view it as trashy, and Weaver did ultimately take his advice, and is very glad that she did so ultimately.

When it comes to final products, the only time we've reached the point of the show being *bad* was in volume 5, and even then there was some good, the rest is at least good, you could say volumes 4 to 8 aren't as good as volumes 1 to 3 and I'd agree with it in some ways, in some ways I think the quality of the show wavered quite a bit, mainly dialogue being awkward and animation being bad or not as good as seasons 1 to 3, however, when it comes to characters, aside from main characters, everyone else is either passable, good, or great, by main characters I mean team RWBY, with the exception of Weiss, another character whose dialogue got worse but never to the point of bad I feel like either I wasn't paying attention or I'm just not watching the same show, ffs some of the complaints I hear are just weird, maybe the company did some shady things, or VERY shady things, things that need to be addressed, criticized and remembered going forward but that is a separate matter to the show's overall quality Seriously the only things that hold the show back to me is some pacing and dialogue, soundtrack is great, story is great, animation is great, the show is beautiful now compared to volumes 4 and 5, it's not attack on Titan, definitely not the greatest show of all time and there is definitely a lot of work needed to even be top 50, BUT, bad is another thing, bad is the Usagi Drop manga, bad is School Days, bad is supernatural seasons 13 to 15, bad is definitely not the word to describe RWBY
