ARE YOU KIDDING!?! They made it so much better. Don't get me wrong the OG Broadway version is iconic and great. However, this cast provided not just a new light, but an ignited a flam that brought the characters and story back to life, making it better known. Idk what people say this cast a crew did a phenomenal job reenacting this story and truly deserved to be preforming on that stage, winning awards, and being admired by millions for several years to come ❤

I thought she held her own for the most part. She was on key, and was way better than Russel Crow haha. But I agree that this role shouldn't have gone to her. The casting department should've gone with a whole cast of trained, musical actors who have given their all for their previous roles in Les Mis. But that wouldn't be profitable in Hollywood, I get it (so lame). This movie would have more re-watch ability if they had more original Broadway (and oversea) cast members that we grew to love.

Samantha Barks (Eponine) is also on Broadway. You can really tell how much her and Aaron Tveit stand out for being stage performers in the Oscar performance. But its all great for sure

You can’t compare a trained professional broadway singer to a film actor singing. A world of difference. Give people props for doing the best they can because you’re doing the apples/ oranges thing!

Not a fan of Amanda or Anne’s voices because of the vibrato. Too tight. Samantha has a powerful and natural vibrato that flows beautifully. I think Russell’s character is good with his voice. Well done overall.

He was in a band and definitely had some musical training, which imo made it more difficult for him because the music he’s used to performing is just so different from musical numbers. It’s much easier to train from ground up if you’re a blank sheet but harder to change your singing style and habits built throughout the years. Which is why Nick Jonas, despite being a super successful singer, was by far the worst part in les mis 25th anniversary

This was for the Oscar’s live show at the time so they had a very limited amount of time to perform to stay within the entire show’s schedule, thus the shortening of the original song.
