Hate the expression selective mute. Nothing selective about it! Other forms of communication should be available as standard. Some people are non speaking and it's horrifying how they are silenced, excluded and their capacity and agency denied. It's a civil rights social model problem. Speech chauvinism must end. Putting pressure on people to communicate verbally is wrong.

Who else is noticing the half-brown-half-green book above the screen-left shoulder, that is grouped with red books, although there is a shelf of brown books just above the other shoulder? Stresses me out but I enjoyed the video

I'm a bit surprised to hear 'freeze' being a response to hypo-arousal - I would say that freeze and fawn are often my automatic responses to overwhelm, I would not describe that as hypo-arousal?

Mirtazapine works well from day 1. But good luck trying to get off of it, it's one of the hardest things I've ever done. Probably because it occupies so many different receptors.

What do you think to the phenomenon of finding words like "it" incredibly confusing? One or two of these vague terms and the entire meaning of the interaction can just collapse.

Are you still on Mirtazapine? I've been taking 30 mg it hasn't done anything for me yet? I'm hoping it will kick in soon. I have a fear of medication right now I feel terrible may head is pounding every day I have no energy and I still have anxiety throughout my whole body and very low concentration.. I've been on it for almost 4 weeks and feel like giving up due to the sadness and headaches that I feel like it's causing me If you have any more guidance for me that would be appreciated thank you so much your video did help me feel a little bit better

It helped me within two weeks and I felt great. I slept like a baby, but then I wanted to eat everything I gained about 40 pounds within two months so I quit taking it immediately and then I was put on the fixer which is the most horrible drug ever made, my advice never ever take it. You will have withdrawal missing one day of dosing. Be very careful these anti-depressants. They really don’t know if they were how they were or what they do.

I just took it for the first time yesterday. Couldn't keep my eyes open anymore and went to bed early, was in bed for 12 hours instead of usually 6. I am still feeling very dizzy, despite only taking half a pill. Bit scary but I hope it's like this only the first few days until my body gets used to it.

My kid is shy and filled with anxieties hasn’t been comfortable since nasty kids constantly insulted my child for not talking and inability to talk. In middle school it was hard to defend name calling or fear that they might say something worse constant in fear. Middle school was the same and now in high school there’s a couple of kids that are cool but can't make new friends and the fear is worse due to low self-esteem and tongue tie even when it comes to someone likable. Its destroying his education is there any evaluation or test to determine what the problem it could possibly be??

Hi Pooky. Thank you very much for sharing your personal experience with medications. I was wondering if you are still on 45mg of mirtazapine? I am considering increasing from 30mg to 45mg. I take it at night and it helps me sleep but I assume the 45mg might be too activating to take it night?

Hi There - i came across this video on you tube whilst searching for information on Mirtazapine. I have suffered depression most of my life and I’m now 73. Ive been taking Sertraline for around three years and stopped last year (2023) i then had a total meltdown in January this year and was prescribed Sertraline along with Diazepam to manage the suicidal ideation and deep holes particularly in the mornings. I stopped diazepam with the help of my doctor and i now only take it when i feel i am losing control of my thoughts and my ideations return. But my sleep patterns are terrible. I’m up from around 0300 / 0400 and these are my worst times. So now i have been prescribed Mirtazapine and am frankly worried about taking it - i am under a psychiatrist and he has asked me to try it. Like many people i am just worried about taking it long term as I’m concerned as its effects wear off over time i will not be able to up the disease any further and ill be back to stage one and without help. Any vies on that.

My friend will sometimes gently wake me up, or try to see if I am awake by softly talking on the outer wall where she knows I might be, letting me know she's going to knock or will be back shortly to knock and to open the door a crack and she has something for me. She's explained she's fine if I can't or am simply oblivious or too asleep. It isn't always food, and sometimes she just needs to let me know a tentative plan for possibly traveling with her in a day or two. She sometimes hands me a shake or a burrito or something but it is generally something she knows I do like without the things I avoid on them. She did this the other night, which did help. I don't know how she knew. She sometimes does this when she's in a drive thru. She does it with other friends to. It could be a new pack of socks or underwear or a thing she spotted at a garage sale. My mom would use art like cooking projects, where it would be closest to the next holiday scheme or shapes.

The bit where your talking about lots of things to do with sort of too much cognitive load already to have to think about what to prepare yourself to eat, is for sure a thing I relate to, in regards to even "What am I not too tired to chew now?".
@splashesin8
@splashesin8 Ай бұрын
Wow, I'm just recognizing having lived this way as a kid all the way into adulthood, and still sometimes. Other things were adding some additional situations to eating for me in early teens, which have resolved more in the last twenty years. However the part you just described from the beginning is still somewhat with me. I try things sporadically again that I go back off eating when I feel like it's just going to be wasted with my current predisposion of illness just thoroughly thinking about actually eating it.

The tragedy is that some parents don't want their children to feel empowered, Because they've grown very comfortable in an authoritarian & domineering role in the lives of their children. Neuro diverse people should not have to adapt to the abnormal neuro typical world, Honestly we have so many other things to try to keep track of & remember just to get through our day. It's such maladaptive thinking, that neuro typical people judge us based on our inability to adapt to them when they should be the ones adapting to us. Neurodiverse people can't help the brains we were born with, We can't just change our brain chemistry for the comfort & convenience of the "normals"🙄

It's also worth exploring the possibility of Emetophobia, (an extreme fear of vomiting that is very common but seldom considered by doctors or family members) Some signs are 1. Having a very restricted list of safe foods 2. limiting or eliminating social eating 3. overcooking things to make certain they are cooked all the way through 4. Obsessive cleaning & disinfecting 5. Over-washing their hands or avoiding plains, trains, boats or amusement park rides. 6. Avoiding being a passanger in a car if motion sickness is a possibility. It can lead to social isolation & really compromise the quality or integrity of relationships due to fear or shame) 7. Fear or morning sickness in pregnancy or avoiding pregnancy altogether. It could also be Sensory processing disorder, where certain textures or smells are absolutley revolting to the the individual. A person may also have an extremely controlling or mean spirited mother who insists that her daughter live up to her impossible standards, that could also contribute towards an unhealthy relationship between her daughter & food or her son & food, Doctors typically don't consider things like that, they foolishly assume, that all parents have their children's best interest at heart, but sadly that simply is not true, Especially if the Doctor finding out the truth, could potentially paint the mother in a bad or negative light.
