Just a quick note about Teflon tape... You should never use it on a drain plug with a sealing washer. It's only for old school pipe thread plugs.

Considering what these RVs cost, there's no excuse for water getting in. They should be just as water-tight as a car. I've been looking at RVs, and am getting discouraged by the quality.

FYI, the window leak is because they put a window in that requires a 1" thick wall. Since the van skin is very thin, they made up the rest of the thickness required with 3/4" plywood and a non curing sealant - basically black silly putty. Every time you close a door, the air pressure in the van temporarily increases, causing the windows to pop out and squeezing the silly putty on their plywood backer thinner. Eventually the windows become loose because of this. The caulk fix you preformed is a great temporary fix, but eventually the window will shift again. In order to fix it permanently, you need to take the clamping pieces off of the interior and insert some type of shims (I used hardboard) to bring the total thickness just over 1" so that the windows can clamp onto the van sides properly.

You can buy aluminum extrusion channels that you can put LED lights in and put a plastic defused shield over the aluminum channel. it would look more professional and still give you the diffused light you want.

Matthew 10:33 But whosoever shall deny me before men, him will I also deny before my Father which is in heaven. The phrase “reprobate mind” is found in Romans 1:28 in reference to those whom God has rejected as godless and wicked. They “suppress the truth by their wickedness,” and it is upon these people that the wrath of God rests (Romans 1:18). The Greek word translated “reprobate” in the New Testament is adokimos, which means literally “unapproved, that is, rejected; by implication, worthless (literally or morally).” ”Wherefore God also gave them up to uncleanness through the lusts of their own hearts, to dishonour their own bodies between themselves: who changed the truth of God into a lie, and worshipped and served the creature more than the Creator, who is blessed for ever. Amen. For this cause God gave them up unto vile affections: for even their women did change the natural use into that which is against nature: and likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust one toward another; men with men working that which is unseemly, and receiving in themselves that recompence of their error which was meet. And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a reprobate mind, to do those things which are not convenient; being filled with all unrighteousness, fornication, wickedness, covetousness, maliciousness; full of envy, murder, debate, deceit, malignity; whisperers, backbiters, haters of God, despiteful, proud, boasters, inventors of evil things, disobedient to parents, without understanding, covenantbreakers, without natural affection, implacable, unmerciful: who knowing the judgment of God, that they which commit such things are worthy of death, not only do the same, but have pleasure in them that do them.“ Romans 1:24-32 KJV bible.com/bible/1/rom.1.28.KJV

Great video! I just got a Airstream Interstate, which has the QG 2800i (HGLAA Spec A) installed and I may have to perform this service on our first trip. Your video helped me know that this is a service I can perform. Reading through the manual it recommends SAE 30w for summer temperatures in the mid-atlantic region (> 32F). The manual () recommends 10W-30 for temperatures from 0F to 80F. Please let me know if I'm missing something, but the 10W-30 may be a bit light if you are taking summer trips in the US. Thanks again for the video.

Warning PLEASE NOTE: Watch this video to the end: The Onan QG 2800I which is the new quiet generator uses a FULL QUART of synthetic oil . NOT 12 oz. as shown INITIALLY in this video. All the old videos from several years ago are now obsolete for those with the new Onan. This genny is standard on most class B vans starting in 21-22 model year going forward. Everything else with this Great Video appears correct although I personally find no need to use Teflon tape since there is a Crush Washer on the new drain plug. In case you lose the crush washer (i did, lol), you can easily get a replacement at any auto parts store

Had a similar issue with my Travato that I bought last June with the generator. One day it just would not start. Got underneath and started feeling for cables. There is one cable coming out the front of the generator that I think is the main control bundle. I gave it a good push, but nothing clicked. However, the generator started after that and so far no more issues.

Wow, glad I watched this. Somewhere I got the impression first oil change was at 50 hours. Thanks for the video. BTW, I have a large 200ml syringe to fill the oil with. I like it better than those pumps. Also, I've never used teflon tape on drain plugs. Somewhere along the way I was told that stuff would be bad if any managed to migrate up into the oil pan. Thanks for the video.

I would be careful about using reflectix on plastic windows because of the increased heat put on the windows. It's good for winter, but be careful during the summer.

I don't think mine came with a curtain to separate the cab from the house. I used the existing screws to mount some rare earth magnets there, then made two curtains with reflectix and white blackout material. It provides a ton of thermal isolation and at night you can't see that the house lights are on if you're walking by.

Good work on this. I just got a 2000 Roadtrek with a 2800 generator and I'm checking videos to pick up details on this. Working from underneath like you did, a pump is a good way to add the oil - there's no room to tip a bottle underneath the vehicle.

I also change my own oil on the newer style Onan generator. Tips I would add is I drain into a oil pan that holds the oil inside to make transport to oil recycling center easier, Walmart, Napa, and others accept old oil for free so I usually change oil in the parking lot and buy new oil when turning in the old. It is very hard to get entire quart of oil out of bottle with hand pump so I always have 2 quarts of new oil when doing an oil change. I carry all items in storage bin so I can change oil anywhere for both van engine and generator. Usually under $50.00 for supplies to do both and can be done in about 1/2 hour once you have tools and process down.
