The true story of medusa is heartbreaking she was a beautiful woman and was also the high priestess of athenas temple one day she was r@p3d by poseidon in athenas temple and when medusa prayed for athenas help the goddess was so angry that she didn't listen to medusa she thought that she had disrespected her by breaking her law of selibacy that in a fit of rage she turned medusa into a gorgon so that no man could ever love her again. 😢

Medusa never was Human, neither where her parents(Keto, and Phorky) ever Human. Medusa was a Gorgon, like her sisters, Euryale, Stheno, and Echidna, and had always been a Gorgon since the day she was born. Medusa being once human, than cursed by Athena, is no where in the Ancient Greek Text.

Honestly, coming back to this many years later, this still holds up. The music, animation and story is still as compelling as the first time I watched it. Its so well made!

evil isn't born but created I have a theory that her anger is just her telling the truth that we humans only look at looks rather whats on the inside so my theory again just a theory I'm not sure but Medusa can be uncursed by true love, in other words, have to be someone with a pure heart to look beyond rather see whats on the outside.

There was another beautiful animated film in a similar style with music as well about Aphrodite being made from seafoam and chasing after a shapeless man and came out at around the same time. I can't find it anywhere. Anyone have any ideas?

Everyone keeps saying “MeDuSa WaS mAdE tO bE So eViL iN mYtHoLoGy.” But that just shows me that the only thing you know about mythology is from movies. If accurate mythology didn’t tell it the right way then there would be no way of knowing that she was a victim. 🤦♂️ My god you people like to talk so smart for no reason and it just makes you look like a bunch of clones of each other.

I always had pity for Medusa since I always known she didn’t turn evil for no reason (kinda like with every villain, no villain turns bad for no reason for example with Megamind he became the bad guy because he was good at it and grown up to think being bad was good but at the end of the movie he changed) and she didn’t deserve the bad things to her. :(
