To think that this was the very first game released for Nintendo's newest system in 2001: Luigi's Mansion showed off the capabilities of the console quite well, having smoother graphics (no more Nintendo 64 rough edges, unless it was Animal Crossing), extensive voice acting, and much more intense expressions and animations, particularly shown on Luigi himself whenever he gets scared throughout the game. In a way, it's kind of the perfect departure from the Nintendo 64 itself, releasing a game that's just as if not much more powerful and extensive... ...and then the 3DS remake happened, showing that this game can indeed fit on a much smaller system.

I was a 1 year old when this game was released in 2001, and 18 when it was re-released in 2018. I played it for the first time this year aged 24, on the 3DS that was released when I was 11. Kinda crazy

i am not kidding i caused my gamecube controller to break because of the water getting in the buttons and then in the motherboard because i cried so much. why? first of all how dare you. luigi went through hell, quite literally to save his brother, finally gets him back and what do you see? luigi starts crying and laughing, to then seeing this. second of all, I SPENT 2 YEARS TRYING TO BEAT THE GAME AND I'M SO HAPPY TO FINALLY BEAT IT DEAR GOD THAT WAS PAINFUL anyways, moral of the story: only play luigi's mansion with something to soak up your tears, not a gamecube controller

Lugie's Mansion is still the best. The gameplay and scoring system is simple but open to mastery. The tone is peak child friendly horror. The ghost are strange but taken seriously. 3 is good but 1 is perfect.
