That little sumbich is clear back in there. What happens if my cones wear pattern looks like it goes clear to the nut almost already? Oh .. how important are the little springs back there? Looks like im missing one.

Yes, it's tricky to reach. A ball-end hex key can be useful. When the cone is too worn, it's no longer possible to adjust the disc properly so that it drives correctly. The cone is a wear part, like brake pads on a car. The springs ensure that the disc hangs correctly, centered between front and back, so that the machine stays still when you release the levers.

There's definitely a therapeutic element to watching this process, and I've always liked splitting wood at home. That wood splitter looks pretty powerful, i used an axe and the sound is satisfying as well. Thank you to the gadgeteerfarm for the video.

I have that same model, ic what your adjusting thanks i knew i was missing something now as for the two chains driving cones.. mine are very loose, do you know what to adjust to tighten chains? Great video.

They are not adjustable as far as I know. You would have to replace the chain and sprockets if they don’t work. But I drove with them sloppy for years without any issue.

Check if you have material left on cones.

They are covered by a thick layer of the same material as is on brake pads. They should be cone shaped and even if there is big steps in them then they are worn.

Nice project but could you use just one throttle to command the 2 motors? Splitting the signal to the two controllers? Thank you so much for your video

Broght one of these home the other day. Rewired the pto, tubes in the tires, some welding on the deck, and it was good to go, except the left lever feels very soft compared to the right, so will have to try adjusting things as shown in the video.

Thinking about buying a Dixon that the guy says the cones need adjusted. How do I know if that’s actually what it needs? He says it runs but won’t move. Any info would be great, thanks.

Of course you could do the adjustment before you buy it. But adjustments of the disks is needed on a regular basis so there is a fair chance that some thing is broken. Common failure is that the cone as worn or broken off, there is one on the to and one bottom. Others are the torque rod, this keeps the front end of the disk in line.

Can you still buy the cone and disc?

I have found them on eBay or similar sites. I’m actually converting my Dixon to electric drive because of the cost of spare parts. Maybe I should put the parts I remove out for auction? kzfaq.info/get/bejne/gb6CftqXq56olKs.html

Its caused by the metal microswitch making false contact with the button that engages the mechanism. can easily be fixed at home with the right knowledge. knowing exactly how to do it correctly should only take you 20 minutes.
