I have basically the same system you have for my TALON. I also have a connector for the Battery Tender attached to the main battery to keep the battery up and ready. What I have found is the charger typically will not pass current through the isolator to the AUX battery and it tends to go flat. I also have an 80 AMP breaker to disconnect the AUX battery. I found it necessary to switch off the breaker and put a second Battery Tender on the AUX battery to prevent it from going flat. If I run the TALON, everything seems fine and correct, it's just the Battery Tender won't charge both if it sees the main battery is up to full charge.

Good morning, we have noticed this issue and we just switch the tender from one side to the other. The reason is the type of chargers and how they move amps and current up and down to keep the batter good. Your charging on the UTV is one straight current/amps so everything is fine but chargers/tenders go up and down and into float mode that isolator can not read correctly to flow the charge back between both batteris equally when in float mode.

In the case where the main battery should die would the isolator allow the secondary battery to start the machine? Or would the low voltage disconnect?
@americanoffroads
@americanoffroads 7 ай бұрын
You can jump it from the secondary battery but the isolator will not reverse the separation between the batteries

@americanoffroads
@americanoffroads Жыл бұрын
Hello, We do not have a kit to control batteries as on and off switches. When it comes to how things are activated there is many ways to wire and add in accessory panels, switches and relays depending on your needs. There are all in one panels and switch like switch pro's and others or people use a distribution box like Blue sea's

Great video, found your site looking for isolator video. Looks like you have a lot of informative videos. Just subscribed and will be watching more. I am looking at adding a second battery and isolator to my rhino 660. It may go more than a month without running so I use a battery tender to keep the battery charged. Can the tender be hooked up so that it will charge both batteries? Also do both batteries have to be the same? thanks, Trav
@americanoffroads

Two more questions, do both batteries have to be the same? I was wanting to put in a bigger battery, maybe even a deep cycle battery as my second battery. Will the stator in my 660 rhino be able to handle charging both batteries?
@americanoffroads

Sorry we do not know what stator is in that vehicle. As long as both batteries are agm/lead acid and 12v you can run different sizes

I have a canam 2022 turbo r and i run a dual battery, everything works fine after taking it out but after a couple hours or so the radio stops working and the lights will completely shut off, should the bettery drain that quick or do i need to upgrade ? Even before it turns night outside the battery will be dead and cant use my lightbars

Hello, if the battery is dieing while the engine is running the secondary battery might not be getting the required amperage. Almost wondering if your stator is not giving the correct charge.
@raptuous
@raptuous Жыл бұрын
Just curious about when you're running but drawing more than the stator can handle. I have a 2012 commander that when winching or light bar on at idle it will kill the engine even with a 350 CCA battery wired in parallel to the oem battery. The voltage is still around 12 volts on both batteries under load and when it lets me restart a few minutes later the batteries show 12 to 13 volts. Will this isolate the secondary battery while the engine is running but drawing more than the stator is charging at?
@americanoffroads
@americanoffroads Жыл бұрын
It shouldn't do that at idle. Week stator or battery

Had 1 on my Turbo S that worked fine but purchased 1 for my 2022 pro xp it literally died on the first ride😒 I wasn’t getting any juice to start my unit. I love the product but, I need 1 with longer wires to run it in a different location maybe or it could’ve just been a bad isolator 🤷🏽‍♂️
@americanoffroads
@americanoffroads Жыл бұрын
True does have great support, wire length wouldn't change anything, we would have to see images of the wiring to maybe see what's going on.

Great video! Lots of information. One question though. If this isolator opens to charge both batteries simultaneously when the SXS is running, then that means when you use accessories wired to the secondary(accessory) battery, it will draw on the starter battery as well, correct? In this case, is there a way to isolate your accessory battery from drawing amperage on the starter battery while using accessories while driving?
@americanoffroads
@americanoffroads Жыл бұрын
Technically yes but the stator is sending more amps to still be charging both while the items are still being used. This begins the conversation of amp hours per battery

Very helpful video - thanks. With a TrueAM system properly installed, does the AUX battery also get charged with the battery tender leads connected to the main battery or do I have to install leads on the AUX battery, too, and run a second battery tender? How does the isolator work with a battery tender? Thanks.
@americanoffroads
@americanoffroads Жыл бұрын
Hello, with this installed the moment the isolator reads voltage coming from the stator/alternator it will open to charge both batteries at once. The moment the isolator reads not voltage coming out shuts the circuit to separate the batteries and not draw on both

Sorry, I have to aptitude for this. How is a stator related to a battery tender? Thanks.
@americanoffroads
@americanoffroads Жыл бұрын
Stator is the UTV version of an alternator. Plugging in a charger is doing the same thing as the stator. The isolater looks at voltage coming in and going out from any source (stator,charger, etc)

@@FullDrawOutdoors They're amazing. Super strong, insanely bright, and they just look killer! Ive banged them off a few branches, i leave them on trailering the rzr down the highway over 70 mph and ive had zero issues. the magnetic mounts seemed like they might not be able to hold up ( because my whips are mounted on an angle ) but they've stayed put. Highly recommend. 5150 has also been building whips for around 10 years now. Tried & true. Plus their warranty is above all. ANYTHING happens, whether you smack a branch or your dog chews your whips, they replace them free for life. you just pay shipping. pretty astounding if you ask me.
