Tactics flow from superior position. And good defense comes from a superior positioning. You had the tactics on your side , by playing down and then winning a pawn. So u had actually played tactical chess. All master chess players are good at positional chess and the tactics flow from the position. You can’t play goos chess without either one.
@casualchessguy
@casualchessguy 3 ай бұрын
10:09 Good tactics flow from good pre and post positions. I understood the opponents tactical plan and ensured I had good position on my side to ward off their tactical attempts. As their position was not good after their tactical moves, they were indeed as you say a pawn down. I had a good position on my side and an understanding of the opponents tactical plan which allowed me to maintain and develop an improved position to gain a slight advantage through the remainder of the game. It's not a perfect game by any means, but we will have to agree to disagree, as I believe I played positional chess that defended against my opponents tactical plan. Either way Chess is Chess, no matter if you are a positional or tactical player, there will be some who say a particular move is tactical and others would say it was positional. I have my way and you will have your way ~ In Chess I Trust

1:00 why did you support the pawn, instead of moving it ahead to attack the knight? If the bishops takes your knight in that situation, you have so many pawns that are heavily weakened You have a really calm voice and good microphone. Thats really great quality, makes it entertaining for real

just a little criticism, he most likely moved his rook to h5 (at 7:48) because he noticed a potential fork that could've ended in a checkmate using your queen, and if you had moved your queen to G5 instead of moving your rook out of the way, you would have ended up with more material with a fork and a trade at minimum. great game, just pointing it out for you to maybe see and consider

not really sure what the point of the rubik's cube comparison is. Yes you can anyone can learn to solve a rubik's cube the same way they can learn to checkmate. But can you solve it in the most efficient way possible? Chances are no, you can't. A computer can always find the best solution to a rubik's cube the same way a computer can always find the best move in a chess game. In that way both cubes and chess are solved. but there's no person alive who's consistently perfect at either solving a cube or chess.

Don't trade the bishop pair! Also, don't rush the game, you still had a lot of time. Let the opponent trade. Look for weak point in the opponents structure and find ways to attack it. The g pawn should have been left on it's original square, instead a rook lift or doubling up the rooks would be a better choice. You doubled up the rooks on a line where they couldn't make progress, only defend, while your opponent could fork the queen and the b pawn. And the f pawn was pushed twice without any support or meaningful attacking oppurtunity. In the endgame you should focus on keeping your pawns safe and finding ways to infiltrate the opponents position. Bringing the king to support more pawns can be beneficial as well. But I think you are aware of those principles, if you don't rush and think twice or thrice before every move you'll be better.
