It's ACEA A7/B7 oil suitable for old diesel engine without particle filters?
@DoubtingThomas333
@DoubtingThomas333 3 ай бұрын
Alright, listen up. A7/B7 oil, also known as Euro 6 standard oil, is suitable for older diesel vehicles without Diesel Particulate Filters (DPFs). It's formulated to meet the needs of modern diesel engines, providing the necessary protection and performance. So, if your older diesel vehicle doesn't have a DPF, you're in good hands with A7/B7 oil. But why not just use newer ACEA e9 or e11 engine oil? That's what I'd do.

It is not always possible to carry around a compressor or operate one; while it is easier to plug in a tool or use a battery tool and plug in the charger. I love battery tools because getting out an extension chord and finding a receptacle to plug it takes time; while you can plug your charger one place and not have an extension chord dragging around everywhere you go.

Thank you for your pros and cons video on LED headlights. I contacted our Department of Transport regarding wanting to change my headlights from halogen to LED and the legal requirements. I was put in touch with the appropriate department and informed it was ok to use LED as long as the wattage is not exceeded. Only to happy to send copy of emails if required.

00:18 he lied at this point. No aftermarket brake pad will out perform stock brake pads. I've installed Wagner, Bosch, Goodyear, Autozone and Detroit Axle on my 2016 F150. I have a video of each install. None of them have stopped as well as my stock Motorcraft pads.

Just to double check a couple of things, Firstly did you wait until each of those brake pads had fully bedded in? And just to check, have you tried any of the Bendix range? And I'm not surprised since Motorcraft is an Auto part brand in it's own right (though owned by Ford).

@@notsureyou First off, pads don't need to be bedded in. After watching this video. I bought some Bendix severe duty pads for my 2016 F150. They stop good but they smell when I drive really hard. I’d be nervous about this as a brake manufacturer. I love Bendix pads, won’t fit anything else on my ICE vehicles. However brake rotor and pad wear on my 3 year old Model 3 is absolutely negligible. They’ll probably last 400k plus.

The globe in the thumbnail isn't the one they used in the video
@tjmarx
@tjmarx Жыл бұрын
If the globes are rated for off road use only because they're illegal on road, but you knowingly make them for standard headlight placement not secondary spots you are putting something onto the market that you know will be used illegally. No one is fitting a H4 LED into headlamps and not turning their lights on at night unless they're off-road. Get real. Most drivers have no idea what ADR means. These products shouldn't be on shelves and Narva should face hefty fines for producing them into the market in this form. Narva should also be forced to do an active recall on all such globes.

something doesn't add up, you mention increased zinc content, but then you lowered phosphor, a chemical engineer explained to me once that it is the phosphor that is the active anti-wear ingredient, so this oil now has less protection, is that not correct ?
@Leosanity
@Leosanity Жыл бұрын
If they have high phosphor it would wreck your cat converters. They have to reformulate it so you can use it on your daily’s. they have high Zinc and Boron though to counteract this.

The problem with mechanics in this day and age is, the lack of road test ability to feel from the bum diagnostics…. Most guy’s under 40 don’t even know what is inside a diff ,gearbox, engine ect as there is no rebuilding in house anymore. Changeover units and no knowledge. Just let the Autel, snap on ect do the diagnostics. I feel sorry for the consumer outside the trade as there is far to much guess work going on. Regards, mark the old mechanic.

This is ridiculous. How can any workshop function within these parameters. You wrongly separate 'aftermarket' workshops. What if I have my Amarok serviced at a Mazda dealer? What if my location is restrictive to visiting the dealer? I laugh at some of these discussion forums- very much an inner city bent. Visit rural and remote workshops and see how some of this BS flies

Sorry boys but I have to disagree. Not sure that there’s anything wrong with carrying on doing things the way that’s worked for thousands of workshops for decades and decades.. What I see wrong is that the amount of “subscriptions” we’re required to sign up to, especially those that once upon a time were included with membership. If we’re to think about profitability, having the skills to get jobs in and out with no rework is more important in my opinion.
@Mechaniccomau

Thanks for your comment Trev. Fundamentally, because in many cases, there are more efficient ways of doing things now. While we can keep doing things the way we always have while the businesses around us evolve, we lose our competitive edge and our bottom line is directly impacted. If we can invest in products or services that save us time and allow us to do our job more efficiently, why would we hang on to old habits? You are definitely right that the world (not just the auto repair industry) is moving from a 'product economy' to a 'subscription economy'; look at netflix and spotify. While there are pro's and con's to both approaches, subscriptions offer many compelling commercial benefits. Having the right skills to get a job done the first time with no comebacks is of course important, but why not do it efficiently? For more context on this video snippet, watch the full version at evolvetoday.au

I am a second generation mechanic and I spent a lot of money listening to business gurus and business coaches only to find that when I applied the business principles' my father and the man I served my apprenticeship with and worked for over 15 years my business become profitable and easy to run.

Educating motorists is an important part of changing this way of thinking Chris and it's a challenge we all face as auto repair business owners. While some fundamentals of operating a successful workshop may be timeless, it is critical that we adapt and evolve to stay competitive in today's market.
