Great race. Love the way they moved around looking for more speed adjusting their entry and run off the corners. No denying Wolfgang was a force but Keith was a great talent in his own right.

Too bad there was only one camera. I still loved seeing '80s sprint cars in action. I really miss the raw, stripped down look of the cars back then.

I had the pleasure of seeing Doug Wolfgang do what he does best, in the very early 1980s at the old Parramatta City Raceway, in Sydney, Australia. And if I remember correctly, a very young Jac Haudenschild was also on a three Man team with him, but I'm not sure if the third Man that year was Steve Kinser or not. It may have been Jimmy Sills, it's been so long, and there's been so many talented American drivers come out over the year's, racing Sprintcars, Midgets and Super Sedans (not really late models but all 360 cubes) racing things like Chevy Stingrays, T-Birds, things like that. But not nowadays, everyone racing an out of the box "Late Models", the only way to tell them apart is by number or sponsor, and that's a damn shame!!

Winner of the first sprint feature Joe ? was driving a Gambler Chassis. First mass-produced sprint car built in halves. Nance soon copied the process of building right side, then left side, then welding both halves together. Kaufman was driving a Stanton. Stanton chassis roll cage had a true roll bar. Roll bar cars must be built as a whole. All cars today are built in halves.
