Thanks for clarifying. The VIN number designation takes quite a long time even though they claim to pop out Model Ys every 45 seconds. I completed all PRE-VIN steps on May 25, and still no VIN number has been assigned.

I just test drove a Tesla for the first time today. Model 3 and model Y performance. I was very impressed and kicking myself for not having looked at them earlier when they were giving discounts. We want to get the Model Y as it seems the best deal and is more spacious than the model 3. The salesperson told me that they sometimes have end of quarter deals. She did say I could wait until next year to see if they do a model Y upgrade but I’m most concerned about price. Do you think the best sales will be in December again? How confident are you that they will go on sale again? The salesperson did say if you wait Tesla may just raise the price on the new model Y. Thanks.

This past winter in Chicago, people with no home chargers found out the hard way that they should have one, as they were stranded by the dozens at frozen non-functioning superchargers.

I personally HATE Chargepoint. Every single time I have used them they are either broken and don’t charge or charge so slow and are not worth the price at all. It’s very unfortunate as they are more prominent in my city but conversely I LOVE EVGO, they are seamless and I’ve never once had any issue with them. Volta is even better as they are free! Granted not a fast charger but not pitifully slow either

I think the Hybrids are the way to go. I have a 2022 Honda Accord Hybrid that I paid $28k and I routinely get 42 to 43 MPG. I am retired and only drive 5,000 miles per year. It does not make sense for me to pay $50k and possibly have to put in a new electrical panel to have a charging station at my house.

What do you think the best tires are for the MY LR? I feel like my battery is draining super-fast. I went on a 22min 16 miles ride to the golf course, and I went from 88% down to 76% in that small amount of time. I even let FSD get me there. When I picked up my car from the dealership on 6/5/24 my drive was 1hr 35min 68mile drive. I left with 79% and when I got home, I was down to 51%. I had the music on and the A/C on auto. I'm sure I had settings on that I didn't need, and had my brother help me get all set up since he has had his MY-P for a year now. There wasn't much I had to turn off that could see would create a massive battery draw. I checked my energy app and it said 4.1% was driving, climate was 0.4% and other was 0.3%. My tires were at 42psi too. I found this web page for tires erangetires.com/en/ but not sure how good they are. I guess by now you can tell this is my 1st Tesla. I own an EV Golf Cart for puttering around the shore town I live in, they has an SLP battery and drains pretty quickly, approx 35miles of range tops, but I didn't expect the Tesla battery to drain as quickly as it is. It's kinda pissing me off and making me think that maybe battery technology is still another 5yrs to 10yrs away when they can put 425+ to 600-mile range batteries in cars. My ICE Cadillac XT5 was getting me about 445miles of range and making that short 16mile 22min trip wouldn't have even made the needle budge.

If people say it's ideal for charging your tesla to 80% for longevity, then why charge it at home effectively always having it at 100%?
@MoreOnEVs19 сағат бұрын
If you can’t charge at home, look to see if there’s public level 2 charging near your home or workplace. You definitely won’t save too much over an ice car, but if it’s not inconvenient to plug in at work or overnight you still enjoy the no gas station life. If you have to supercharge, it’s basically like owning an ice car… inconvenient

I commute to work 5 times a week. About 180 miles round trip. I have only used superchargers on road trips 😊 I arrive to work with 30% (charge @ 24mi/hr) Leave work with 80% Arrive home with 50% (charge @ 4mi/hr) Leave home to work with 60% And do it all over again lol

I work from home and just took delivery of my standard 2023 model 3. I’ve had it for a week and I charge it in my garage on the regular level 1 charging outlet. I thought this would be an issue but I’m getting a consistent 5 miles per hour just from my regular outlet. Much better than the 2-3 miles Tesla and others claim. Try it out, you may find your regular outlet works better than expected.

I don't have a gas station or even a gallon of gas for any mower on hand in my garage. How is that any different? Also roads around me are 80-85 , so how does that speed affect battery life and range? No one ever mentions driving that speed.

If you need to get a 12 or 10 gauge extension cord and you don’t have a Home Depot or Lowe’s card get there sign up for the credit card and get a huge discount like 10 or 12 bucks for the extension cord and then when you pay it off, throw it away

The Ontario (Canada) government introduced an ultra-low overnight price plan a short while ago. The cost is 2.8 cents / kWh. The peak rate from 4 to 9 pm is a little more (28.6 cents / kWh) but the cost to charge an EV overnight is now really cheap.

Probably getting a Tesla before getting the L2 charger. I have the mobile connector that will plug into a single outlet 120v circuit. There's also CCS DCFC nearby and a Supercharger about 10 miles away.

I’m retired and do a lot of short trips. How do Tesla’s do with lots of short trips, generally with max speeds at 45mph or less? Do they get more miles / kWh?

I’ve had my model 3 since January of 2023 and live in a condominium complex, luckily I live next to a mall and have a supercharger there but whenever anyone asks if I love my Tesla or how it is to charge I always explain to them that the major benefit is if you charge at home, yes you can use the supercharger but it’s more convenient at home. I also explain how it depends if they do long distance traveling as opposed to someone that travels throughout the city. All these are very important factors that overall should be tied in if you decided to get one.

@JremiahJones hey so I just bought my 2024 model 3 but I’m a merchant mariner so I’m gone for 4-5 months at a time. Do you think I should leave my car plugged in while I’m gone or just let it sit in rest mode. I also bought the Tesla car cover but will that prevent dash from cracking?

1:26 AMEN! If I could not charge at home, I would not be loving my EV experience in my retirement. Perl (2023 sits in my driveway sipping frrom my level 2 charger to keep her charged to about 60%, which is plenty for a spontaneous 90 mile trip to visit my sister, and which I am hoping will be better long term for my battery than essentially cycling the battery a few times per month.

Good luck! I’m trying to do the same in my condominium, it’s a pretty big one with lots of guest parking and I mentioned to the president if they would be willing to install at least one or two stations but they’re being a pain and just flat out turning me down.
