I agree , It's a big game of trial and error when it comes to Big Cichlid keeping . Trying to match fish sizes , to general fish species temperaments which is also affected by diet , AND individual fish's aggression levels . There are Many variables and combinations , so don't believe everything you hear as gospel . People just need to realise that fish need to be monitored , some fish will appear docile arround others but then turn aggressive with maturity , and to be a responsible fish keeper you need a back up plan , or alternate tanks to reorganise your fish stocks . I always believe in keeping busy tanks ( some would call overstocked) with territorial areas and visual barriers from one side of the tank to the other . Fish don't tend to single out other particular fish when there is continual distractions and visual barriers to line of site . But with that being said , that's what generally works for Me !

This is nice! With all that plant coverage you don’t really need the net. And with hiding spaces, they are quick enough to escape raccoons or cats. I’ve had a pond in my front yard for years and we are in bobcat country. They have maybe gotten one fish in 10 years

Sorry to hear about all the fish losses Cleveland. Hang in there. Wish I had the answers, but wouldn’t have a clue. I think why your predator tank worked the first time is you added all the fish one at a time, so they had their pecking order and their territories. Did you add all the predator fish into the new tank at the same time?

Like I said before bro! Down size to the point your family gets the appropriate attention and the fish get the appropriate attention. I’m doing the same thing. Win win win win. Win for you, family, and fish. Miss your tank update bro!

Bro that’s gunna be amazing even if you don’t do native fish and just use it during the summer to keep tropical larger fish that’s going to be amazing I love the idea of running the two together I think that’s going to be amazing and I think if you put plants in it like your inside one it’s going to make the neighborhood jealous and you going to get ppl asking you about it

I been in the hobby a little over 2 years now. I can say I have had experience moving fish around is why I am up to five tanks. Part of it is I don’t like giving up, taking them back, or giving them away. I have lost some really nice fish just like you mentioned like everything going well then all of a sudden something pops off.

When I started getting into this hobby 20 years ago, I started with a 10 gallon with only Molly’s I paid less than $10 for a group 20 years later I have five aquariums with nothing but their offspring 🤣 did not have to buy one fish for over 20 years…(just remember your mental health comes first brother 💪🏾)

What about filling larger tanks like a 125G, do you buy the water or would it be better too mix it yourself?
@TheFishCorner11 күн бұрын
Either or. I used to buy my saltwater and rodi for my 225 and 150. But when I moved into my house I started making it.

@@TheFishCorner That's wassup! Great video and thanks for helping us out. All I ever hear about is how hard it is and it can be very intimidating. I plan on doing a fowlr tank with my 125 one day soon.
