I recently had this happen to my 2012 Chev equinox and after a couple KZfaq videos I saw the problem, I called a dealership where I bought the vehicle used and was told 1700+$ for parts and labor, I bought the part on ebay for almost 40$ and took my hatch apart after much swearing and frustration getting the hatch to open, replacing the actuator was easy. I felt so happy to have saved myself 1700$ 3 weeks of waiting for an appointment to the service center. The rush I got was enought to prompt me to install new headlight bulbs. I am a 64 yr old woman who also is not a mechanic.

Thank you so much!!! Chevy 2009 Equinox. Same problem. Watched other videos that took the entire back apart. You probably saved me an hour instead of following what these other's posted. I had already determined from another video that it was just the button not the lock actuator. For once an easy fix. I got luck that my screws came out even those they are rusted. I have heard others using a sawzall to cut of the screws from the back and just reinstalling with nuts, bolts and a couple washers. Sadly I removed the entire vapor barrier to access the back. That will be fun getting back on. Oh well. Always a learning experience. Thanks again for you video.

if you put on a catch can on that line it will help remove oil going to injection manifold.

Just FYI. The best way to feed in is normally through the brake booster line. Cover the end with your thumb when you pull it off to prevent engine from jumping like that. Move thumb just enough to feed in sea foam to hot engine. Once about a quarter of the way through the bottle the exhaust should start smoking. Continue to pour about 1/8 of what’s left in to the hose. When you’re ready ( some people use whole can some people use only half) dump a good amount down the hose and shut off motor immediately to allow chemicals to stay on parts and soak. Let engine sit 20-30 mins. Restart engine, drive gently around block after getting engine to idle properly, get engine up to temp and drive it like you stole it. Then change the oil after a day or so of driving.

I'm having a issue trying to figure out how to replace the switch lid realese on my 2007 buick rendezvous hopefully this will be similar to it.

Might be a stupid comment but why don't just use the roll blind fitted from the factory? It is not blackout but...

Hello i've been doing work on my car (same exact one) could you point me in a direction for more detailed tutorials most videos posted are for the r56 turbo version and i just what to make sure I cover my bases . I have very little knowledge on cars the simpler the better but ill take what ever you've found before. At the most i would appreciate if there are other keywords i should use in searching about info on this card. I have using the haynes manuel but if you know a better one for newbs like me lmk as well. I hope you reply or someone else sees this ill be checking to see if any of your other videos help.

My taillight didn't come out near as easy, the top pins did not want to come out, but the bottom one was easy-peasy.

Only thing I do slightly different is before I tighten and close everything up is test the light(s). Of course put in the screws enough so the light cannot fall. I do it like that because even though it is rare, I have had in the past where I changed the bulb closed everything up and the new/replacement bulb did not work. On some vehicles there can be a lot more to do to change a bulb.

Doing this right now to the same exact car with over 204k miles and surprisingly it's not even close

Very helpful video. The tailgate on my 2005 Equinox will not open and now I know how to test the actuator and the switch. I will have to drill an access hole myself as my lift gate does not have one. Thank you for posting.

Did you really need to take the fan out?

great video but I took the switch out and tested it without having to take the panel off, the screws were very rusty and hard to get out but there is plenty of slack on the cable to pull it out with the switch.

We are having trouble unscrewing the crews to get to the lift gate switch
