Hey. I had an open inguinal repair with no mesh 2 years ago. Failed. Thought I was in the clear after a good nights sleep. Around noon the next day I began having horrible electrical zaps shooting into my left testicle from an unsettled nerve. Went away after 2 hours. Worst experience of my life. Brutal. I’m laying here in bed tonight after having mesh put in this morning laparoscopically. Tomorrow is gonna be a real mindfuck because all I will be thinking about is if the zaps will return when the local anesthesia wears off or if 2 years ago was the surgeon making a mistake. Hang in there. I quite literally feel your pain.
@Expresshonestly9 күн бұрын
Hi, that sounds like hell, I've experienced nerve pain in my arm once & there's no pain like it, crazy sensation so to have it in a testicle is literally torture. In my mind that happening again is rare, especially with a very different way of performing the surgery. One if the benefits of Laparoscopic is that it reduces chance of nerve issues. Wishing you well Kelly. 1 step at a time. 1 punch at a time. 1 round at a time.

Thanks for the encouragement. I never considered that. Makes me hopeful. The worst part was that it would come every 40 to 100 seconds. I would verbally yelp when it happened. Physical and psychological torture. Never in a million years I thought that could or would happen. I was just as anxious as you on my first one. This one was easier. The experience counts. Keep me in the loop regarding your need for another one. Laparoscopic may be the way to go.

Update on my Femoral Hernia: I am writing this because I know how we feel about this issue and I want to give some hope. When I examined my groin, I shaved it all by getting into a bath, soaking, and then using a blunt razor, soaped and shaved the area. This clears the hair without cutting skin but is a problematic method later on as the hairs tend to itch as they grow. Better using an electric trimmer and leaving stubble (number 2 blade protector) I noticed the entire lower abdominals were missing. There was only a thin layer of skin, fascia, and muscle. When I coughed, put pressure, the area would bulge and was concerning to experience such vulnerability to the area. I bought a cheap $20 hernia belt. This was supportive but whilst I waited for it to arrive, I used K2 tape to support the area. (I still use K2 when I go out dancing/singing) The bulge felt like it was made up of fluid. I did mini crunches whilst feeling where the crunch was affecting. You are trying to re-establish muscles where really, there are none. I have now come up with all sorts of ways to affect the area. The exercises MUST NOT promote the bulge. You are not doing sit-ups. It's more a gentle tension and release of the area. Time under tension is important. I then got a better belt: THUASNE ORTHOCARE Ortel. This is a flat belt that protects the area from flexing. Once I made progress and established some muscles, I got my mountain bike, and rode on flat areas only for 2 x 2 hour sessions. I drank protein shakes and increased my calories (Theory: muscle will only maintain/develop in a excess of clean calories/protein). The muscles returned and I am now at 90% fixed. Biking progressing now. The problem was the muscle wastage. No support of the high pressure area. Avoid all gas as gas is destructive in this condition. Find out what causes you fluctuance and stop it. For me, chocolate. I believe this potential hernia was caused by two events. 1. A piriformis muscle injury (which I feel was due to creatine) which was not fully repaired 2. An impact to the groin I think as part of the repair to the piriformis, stretching weakened the femoral area. The piriformis muscle, in some way atrophied the lower abdominals or the stretching damaged the area. I am getting an ultrasound next week and then off to deep tissue massage to fix the piriformis fully as it is still niggly. I am booked into a hernia specialist but I will not introduce mesh. If I get a repair/need, I will get it fixed with sutures, and upgrade my exercise routines to truly improve my core. I am 63 this year with a metabolic age of 46. I deep dive all factors of health and when something happens to me, I experiment with my own solutions. Avoid science made drugs. You can never know the full outcome. Find a natural solution. Whatever condition you have, there is a way you can improve it naturally.
@Expresshonestly16 күн бұрын
Very detailed routine you have, I too like to take detailed approach. I read that some genetic tendencies can cause some people's peritoneum to expand more than others, apparently there can be advantages to this is athletics ect but on the flip side can gradually stretch out & thin muscles & cause hot spot areas, hernias. I'm still trying to determine what's going on , on my left side. There's definitely muscle damage & it pretty painful, but also I real sense of limited abdominal support in the area.

(76Kg, 178 cm, under 14% body fat which is dangerous) I will share my progress with you. K2 tape allows the area to repair. An observation: If you don't lock it up with K2 tape, flexing the area will constantly degrade the repair process. Got to go work brother from another mother. Kiakaha!

Have you had a piraformace muscle injury or any illness prior to your hernia? Did you lose weight? I suspect for me a) Creatine causing constipation, muscle dehydration/piraformace injury b) 2 weeks bed rest/recovery c) Lost 3 kgs muscle d) Weakened abdominal wall e) Impact of abdominal wall on an obsticle f) Not a hernia but a lack of muscle to support small intestine cavity. If left unchecked, would have resulted in hernia. The key is muscle wastage.

@@Expresshonestly It is 24 hours after the mountain bike ride on a flat circuit (a few small hills but no real pressure on the groin). My suspected femoral hernia is looking and feeling 90% fixed. I will go for another ride tomorrow, allow 48 hrs of recovery. I still have a piriformis issue and will make this my focus during the next month. Hernia is the end product to muscle wastage. I tried a variety of exercises but only biking has rebuilt the lost muscle which now supports the right femoral region and stops the 'feeling' of a hernia. I suspect a lot of people get hernia repairs done with muscle wastage as the cause and actual issue. Sure there are hernias, but I have found nothing that describes the symptoms I had and appear to be now recovering from. This is a game changer. One doctor identified it as a hernia and wasn't even going to scan to check. I would have gone on to have surgery (i am booked in) and it looks like it was not required. Interesting

@@Expresshonestly in oriental medicine they explain hernia occurs when a innate CHI is nearly depleted which makes the organs go downwards, it is abstract however in line with the fascia thing. Taking rest is important in oriental medicine aside taking specific herbal mix, some use specific accupunctures to either stimulate the CHI or near the hernia place(which seems similar to the old PRONOL injection method) whicb basically makes a scar slowly around the weak place. I havent been able to access a nearby oriental doc who could do the so called accupuncture, which main stream docs are most skeptical about. This vaccuum breathing i read also has in ayuverda medicine the effect of burning your innate boiler which makes the CHI flow smooth. A abstract explanation but it is all coincidentally in line.

It wasn't until I went to A&E with an incarcerated hernia that things actually began to be put into motion getting it sorted - thankfully it was just internal fat stuck with the hernia and no bowel. Still, even then it was pushed back into place and I was told it cant be that bad and sent off at 11 at night from paisley hospital, high on painkillers with no phone battery to speak of. @@Expresshonestly if it's any consolation, the time I got the hernia,I also banjaxed my back. Herniated disc and sciatica. Waiting to see a neuro surgeon. That's me finished in the trade

How are you feeling now?

Maybe a (decent) hernia truss would slow things down for the new one on the left side, but I think you have less invasive surgery options if you get it seen to earlier? Just going by what I've seen on YT as I have a similar situation but haven't had surgery yet. Best of luck, buddy, I'll be watching your progress with fingers crossed...

I feel for you mate, I'm just passed the six week mark of recovery myself for an inguinal hernia repair and the thought of going through the whole process again is a truly rotten one. Hoping for the best for you, I found your videos a proper comfort when I was going through the whole thing myself!
