You are able to articulate brilliantly the nuances of the song despite not knowing the language. Rekha is trained kathak dancer so she can pull it off. Her expressions comes from dance training. This dance setting is called mujra where people drink and watch the dansseur perform. Similar to cabaret. But it was not like theater where everyone is allowed entry. Not family audience setting if you get it.

I don't recall which other song from MkS you've reacted to but the title song and O Saathi Re (couple of versions in the movie) are also classic....would love for you to check them out

This is a gorgeous song, but most of the track is actually cut from the film, including the main chorus line. Only a bit of the verses are there...Very very strangely edited.. The lyrical version w/ the full track is much better. Songs very often get shortened in films, but they usually keep the main chorus and then at least one verse, so the structure of the song remains... Feels like they just haphazardly sampled a random middle section of the song and thought "well thats enough"...

Salman Khan and Aishwariya Rai were dating at that time. This song/movie was such a huge deal because of how truly beautiful both stars looked together. Imagine their children if they had any, they'd be considered Greek Gods/Goddesses lol

I think the songs of this movie are better than the actual film. If you want to see an early Bhansali picture that is actually good, I think "Khamoshi: The Musical" would be a superior one.
