Tom Burke is an excellent actor. He is very convincing in the role of a young man who has Asperger's. I wonder what other films he has acted since this episode.

My goodness, the psychiatrist is mispronouncing the word Asperger's! Can't believe nobody on the set caught it..... And why do shrinks wishper in movies?

The ending totally lifted my mood! I was so afraid the other result would happen and then I would begin to doubt her myself. And that would make me feel bad about my self as a woman. But he took responsibility for his anger and I could see then that he had wanted to blame her for it. But it was not to be. The blame was off of her.

“Evidence of Death” How could they tell he was dead, was it because he was lying on his desk, motionless with a lack of pulse?
@janethammond592528 күн бұрын
Spoiler alert but it seemed quite obvious that the actor brother killed the wealthy brother and then impersonated him. First he didn't know how to use the intercom, he didn't know about the affair he was supposed to be having with his secretary, and he didn't notice the detail about his 'brother' using a gun with the safety catch on (in the commercial). All things his mogul brother would have known about/known how to do.
@janethammond592528 күн бұрын
They practically telegraphed the answer to this one early on. All the clues pointed in one direction so it was obvious who the guilty person was. I wish the writers had made it a bit harder but still love the show! 😊

@@swimasfastasyoucan THANK YOU so much for uploading these episodes. I actually recall a few from the original broadcast (especially the future set one because it's so visually memorable and the 17 March one, because it was one I managed to solve back then!).

It was a bit weird seeing Norman Bowler in this episode (Mr Patrick) as he'd been a guest panellist in a previous episode. But this one was easy...March 17th is St Patricks Day ergo Mr Patrick is the murderer. To be fair I don't usually solve these so early in the piece but this one was a dead giveaway...no pun intended. 😊
@domshaheen7356Ай бұрын
Yes, it would have been better if the 17th had ultimately been a red herring. Or could have worked if they’d had the victim tear out a few pages in March, 15-17 March so we’d have to choose between the 15th (Ides of March meaning the husband) or 17th (St Patrick’s Day meaning Patrick) or dates within in the Pisces sign (meaning Miss Fish) or just pages from a calendar (Miss Calendar). We also needed more characters with believable motives. Overall with the simplicity and the cringeworthy camp tone it’s my least favourite episode.
@janethammond5925Ай бұрын
@@domshaheen7356 Your suggestions are good ones and would have worked better for sure. I'm in two minds about the comedy element in this episode... but ultimately would rather keep the 'realism' I think. But blimey if I thought seeing Norman Bowler as both panellist and actor was confusing...I just saw an episode where the guy who had once been the show's host was a guest panellist, Edward Woodward who'd once been a panellist as the new host, and the future host Jon Pertwee as a panellist. 😳🥴
@domshaheen735629 күн бұрын
@@janethammond5925Have you seen Before Your Very Eyes, the one from earlier this season with the magician? Bowler's in that as well! They disguised him well so I spent the whole episode wondering if it was really him but the credits say it is!

I remember watching this episode as a child and correctly choosing Connor as the murderer...though I think that was more a lucky guess or intuition. Now as an adult I'm amazed at how obvious a suspect Connor made himself. Firstly carrying around flashbulbs, then most stupidly of all, admitting he knew how to open the safe. (Plus his gaffe revealing he knew what was inside it.) Amazing that the memory of this episode has stayed with me 50 years. 😊💐

In various documentaries I've heard his colleagues -- actors, production crew, executives -- call David Croft a "genius". Never Jimmy Perry. Obviously the balance of contributions to their great successes weighs heavily in favour of Croft, though Perry was much more keen on the limelight.

This episode appears to be building up to Farmer's son having serious issues, which he as a deeply loving father and barrister is good to have to face in later episodes. His ex-wife is over controling yet doesn't add that their son has panic attacks and sleep walks to her list of does and dont's. A terrilbly serious conscious omission. Also she doesn't give him any pocket money, so he steals his father's phone money. Is appears he too is acting out like the accused girl. Farmer's son can emotionally identify with her, which is why he says she didn't do it, even if she looks crazy. Maybe the script writers will evolve this issue that has now been created?

This episode shows me the least favourite inspector of all in this programme: in his way of investigation I see nothing either of compassion nor of cool-headedness, just convincing enough as the proof of an intention of getting results.

This case is far from being a good precedent for real victims of rape. It's the opposite. She was eyeing him and flirting with him, even neglecting to take the drinks to her friends, until they got up and left. What we see is her giving him every indication (at the bar) that he would be remiss if he did not acknowledge her interest and act upon it. This type of woman who is nothing but a tease can only be tolerated so far before the men start to rebel, and how would we be able to blame them? Her type is the reason that all women will have to then bear the brunt of the (often) bogus and hypocritical men's' rights movements and the witch-hunt for so-called sexual abuse BY women.
