Fire hazard, there’s only one way out. I think I’ll stick with the two staircases if it’s a larger building.

Essentially you need the land developer to own a bigger parcel of land and to seek the well being of the residents instead of just profit... I'm from Singapore and I think the government does pretty good with this! A lot of the new public housing is designed to have more corner units, and sizes for apartments go from 1 to 5 rooms, suitable for families. There's also open, green areas with exercise equipment and playgrounds. The ground levels of almost all such apartments are empty and clear, where people can host community events (even wakes). They are often with seating and even Chinese chess tables that the elderly often like to sit and play at. Sometimes the ground level floor is filled with shops instead, like grocery stores, hairdressers, and coffee shops/food shops. I have mixed feelings about my government but they've done a great job with public housing layout and functionality.

As someone who used to commute to City Centre by bike from South Surrey, I can say there are great bike lanes in Surrey. There's a BC Hydro right of way near 128th Street and others that run west to east from City Centre to Langley. The problem from what I experienced is quick, safe, and easy access to these routes. Way finding, protected lanes, lighting and more routes connecting North to South Surrey would be very helpful.

Around $250,000 was made when I sold my flat in Rochester. That's why I was upset when my standard savings account yielded only $171 in interest. It was suggested to me to buy stocks after I conducted some study. Which stocks would be a good place to start?

Although the stock market is exciting and can yield a healthy return on investment, professional advice is necessary for efficient portfolio management to prevent market burnout due to its extreme volatility.

I anticipated receiving $2,500 in interest on my initial $50,000 when I created a high-yield savings account online with 5.12863% interest compounded everyday. Rather, I was only given $420. I asked, and was informed that the website did not make it obvious that the interest is computed daily. With the help of an expert, my partner suggested that I switch to stocks, and in just six months, I experienced almost 80% capital increase (discounting dividends). Extremely advisable!

Houten was designed from the ground up to make all local trips much easier to do by bike, while out-of town trips are better by car. There's also a train connection to Utrecht 4 times an hour from two stations. Even here in the Netherlands it's a bit of an anomaly. Frankly, I think it's fantastic.

I wanna see more tiny home on wheels communities. So that people can own an inexpensive home, don't need to deal with the issue of owning land, and can relocate at will, without having to spend a small fortune hiring a moving company and realtor.

The city of Surrey has a “bike to work week” . One Saturday I was cycling from south Surrey to Caps on Scott rd and while cycling along hwy 10 I came across a big sign mounted on a trailer advertising bike to work week. The problem was that it was positioned in the bike lane forcing cyclists into the busy traffic to proceed around it. It says a lot about the city of Surrey and their understanding of cycling.

Without a mitigation for the parking, you are designing a miserable experience for the new occupants and the neighbors. Our society is adapted to the freedom of cars. Until we have full autonomous cars and normal people can no longer afford to own their own car, and then are forced to buy into a fleet share system, we will need somewhere to put our cars while we sleep, without getting in chest thumping matches with Nancy 2 doors down.

There is business access in proximity to waterfront (eg. granville island, quayside, creekside, english bay). There are already people on the path that just create a walking wall that won't let others pass. Let's just add businesses and see how the abundance of bikers come will be cussing at people walking in their path. There is a reason why the path doesn't go directly into granville island. There are tons of volleyball courts available at Spanish Banks. I could maybe agree on where lighting would be ideal, and how 'some' of the parks aren't as utilized. In a place where housing is in such demand, I'm not surprised to find more housing in near proximity. If you want to eat while on the path, just think ahead and buy something within a blocks radius before getting there. If people were on the paths at all for business then food trucks could be found in proximity. Look to Lonsdale Quay or Steveston for your waterfront business vibes. It is beautiful, frequently bustling, and does not warrant being discredited by a clickbait title.

To me the problem is every community wants to minimize its connectivity. This leads to traffic funneling into a few major roads. This sucks for cars and bikes. More connectivity means shorter drives, less total car time on the road (traffic), a larger transportation grid, less continual construction and expansion on actively used roads, and more direct roots on less trafficed roads for cyclists. The downside to connectivity is you might get some through traffic. But if every neighborhood follows that pattern that through traffic is distributed and not heavy. Do you know what place is bikable and drivable. Utah. They use a grid layout so everything is connected by default. You have one of 30 parallel streets you could bike on vs the main highway with nearly no cars on it. Again these neighborhoods that allow through traffic (all of them) still have nearly no traffic because it is all of them accepting through traffic. Cities should require that developers submit street plans that accept through traffic (not much). If you are going to contribute traffic then you need to help process traffic. One small road between two adjacent neighborhoods adds value, but they sometimes seem to make a point of not adding it.

I don't have an issue cycling around a residential area, where you get a car once every 10 min or something, but anything more than that, on a regularly trafficed street? Hell no. If there was a protected bike trail from my place to the grocery store, I'd be using that SO often
