The barts are quiet and clean due to the covered magnet design and still has a nice bite, but that fender growl is undeniable IYKYK. The Nords seem to be a more flat balanced tone which probably sound better in an active bass.

The thing about slap bass is that it's just so repetitious. I'm not knocking the slappers. Marcus Miller is great at it! But I much prefer improvisation to repetitive rhythmic tricks.

I was at this show for the DVD recording, right in the middle of the song his guitar cut out and there was a minor snafu with the sound for a few moments. It was all edited out for the DVD but I still remember it

This is the Dream Theater I love. Mike Mangini is an amazing player but life happened and I stopped listening to the band as much. Now I’m 33 and I’m looking back at music and bands I’ve listened to and loved and to see Mike Portnoy back is really amazing. 😢
