I agree with and understand the people that say asking for help to unclog a toilet is embarrassing, but what I don’t understand is the fear of getting yelled at, whooped, beaten, etc. when asking for help to unclog a toilet! What the heck? Do they think that someone clogged the toilet on purpose? I’ll never understand people that get mad, yell at, or especially punish others after they’ve had an ACCIDENT! This is especially true when directed at kids! Seeing the fear/terror in the eyes of a child after they’ve accidentally done something breaks my heart. Mean people just suck! By the way, after many multiple attempts at unclogging a toilet, that didn’t even have anything showing in the bowl besides a little water, using a couple small squirts of dishwashing soap and a gallon of hot water worked immediately!!

Thread locker is not a glue. It fills gaps between threads therefore prevents cross axial movement nut to bolt under dynamic load. Gluing is a side effect😊
@HacksbyDadКүн бұрын
Thanks! Threadlocker by definition is an anaerobic "adhesive." In addition to filling the gaps, it also adheres to and grabs the surfaces to minimize movement. The breakaway torque is a simple way to measure the adhesive strength of the threadlocker. I'm working on a new vibration test to put various threadlockers, lock washers, and lock nuts through their paces. 😎

The bolts used on the powergrid are 1/2” stainless with two flat washers and a split lock washer. It would be so awesome to validate the theory that Milwaukee impacts wreck the bolts via over torquing them.
@HacksbyDadКүн бұрын
Interesting. I haven't experimented with stainless steel bolts. I did some quick research and was surprised with what I found. First, the recommended torque value for 1/2" x 13 bolts is only 45 ft-lbs. I think the recommended values are 70% of max values so the max would be only 64 ft-lbs. Second, the Milwaukee specs for their M18 impact driver state 1,700 in-lbs or 141 ft-lbs of torque. If the above are correct... it would be very easy to over-torque the 1/2" stainless steel bolts. I don't have an impact driver, so I can't do this test... yet. Maybe this video will take off and hit 50k views which should be enough to pay for the impact driver. 😎

Ok, this is awesome. Would you consider showing what happens when the bolt is severely over torqued by a brushless Milwaukee impact? The theory is that it will yield and you will lose that spring effect, which causes a lot of losses on the power grid (due to over torqued electric connections)

I have often wondered how using various types of thread products would affect torque specifications, how they would alter the final torque. And I had made the assumption that all such products function, at the moment of tightening, as a lubricant. And for that reason, I slightly under torqued the bolt/nut. But your video does not clearly explain these things. Your content assumes we already know some things you are not explaining. If you ready the comments, you'll see some viewers are lost. So I suggest you re-do the video and thoroughly explain every step and their implications. Also, slow down.

In Lansing Michigan's GM motor plant, we used this property in taming the Quad 4 engine . Because of the dissimilar metal and their expansion rates, the engine used to chew up its head seals. There were a lot of things they did to fix this, but one was lengthening the head bolts and letting them act as springs to help take the pressure and wear off the seal.

Nice test but your interpretation of your results is oversimplified. Seems to me that your activated samples were dramatically better than the Non-Activated when you look at the huge variability in the Non-Activated compared to the Activated cases. The difference in the averages is not that big, but the differences in variability and worse case is enormous. That is what counts. You need to have the WORSE CASE to be good enough NOT the average! Please revise your analysis and emphasis. Your comparison and testing are great 😀
