What size is your boat? I just got a 1540 Alumacraft and I want to add the beaver tail pods but I’m worried they’d interfere with turning the motor cause my bottom of the boat is 40”. Planning on going with a 15-20hp mercury.

If they pull enough line to get to the reel I'll use it, but if not it's easier to just hand line them in. Then I don't have to strip my line out between fish.

Any of the combos that are under $300 will be great to learn on. You could even go really cheap by getting maxcatch stuff off Amazon. I do recommend getting a good quality fly line. Something for saltwater from scientific angler, or Cortland.
