Isle of Wight 1970. probably the who's best proformance by a long shot
@stevenhaynes10313 ай бұрын
He was very skilled in his own way and certainly a spectacle, but IMO easily upstaged by his peer, the more musical Mr. Baker. Ginger choreographed his solos with tremendous discipline and really "spoke" with his drums. Keith just wailed away. I don't discount his talent as a rock drummer, but I'd never call him "musician".

John was stunningly more magestic and superior to that of Keith Moon- Neil Peart or Ginger Baker. kzfaq.info/get/bejne/a66Fjbmf25aVeWiH.htmlhen the music of Zeppelin with Bonham on percussion blew The Who, Rush or Cream away. Period

@ mike k Comparing the two is asinine. Peart is like some kind of dweeby college professor. A better drummer technically? No fucking doubt. (i have seen RUSH ten times, they're one of my favorite bands) But as far as ROCK AND ROLL goes? Yeah man, absolutely NO comparison. Want some kind of geek drum clinic? Go to Neil. Wanna see the greatest of excessive rock and roll, balls to the wall drumming? Keith's your man. btw, Neil would give Keith all of the props in the world, and would NEVER talk about him like you did. Keith was one of his influences.

Keith hated drum solos. This is about the only one i've ever seen him do. Just not his thing. Doesn't surprise me it wasn't great. He needed to have the others playing. He fed off of them and was "soloing" all the time. Watch A Quick One (while he's away) from the Rock and Roll Circus. Probably the greatest drumming ever.

He was a shit drummer - a clown, nothing more.

Listen to all his rolls and fanatics on My Generation and tell me he was sloppy and uninspiring. Moon and Mitch Mitchell were the best rock/jazz drummers of all time

That is a terrible comment that, absolutely terrible. You just don't get it. This "solo" is crap yes, but just listen to something like Going Mobile or Bargain or even 5:15 etc. He was the greatest rock drummer ever IMO. He said he hated drum solos so I have no idea why he did this though.

What the hell are you talking about? Keith Moon is one of the most appreciated drummers ever. Where did you come up with that statement, how no one understands?
@PachucoLA11 жыл бұрын
Didn't think that solo was amazing... I know he is a good drummer though.
@eduardogabriel199911 жыл бұрын
John Bonham was Jimi Hendrix of drums. Keith was more... some kind of Kirk Hammett: no talent, just and some shitty music!
@MrVbarroso11 жыл бұрын
Actually Jimi Hendrix was the Keith Moon of guitar.
@peternemeth17777 жыл бұрын
Haha. A statement to start a wild conversation of who was the best drummer. Nice trolling. I think you know don't you that Hendrix is considered to be the number one rock guitarist of all times and Keith Moon one of the best drummers but doesn't lead the list.
@jims555711 жыл бұрын
Yeah he was unique.... In that he was the worst drummer to ever be called great. His drumming is so sloppy and all over the place it's not even funny. Terrible drummer, absolutely terrible.

I love Kieth Moon but I think The Who is the only band he could have survived in;......His solo's aren't all that good.He was just the right drummer to give the Who their unique sound though.

Dude anyone who can put moon in the same universe as Rich or Peart is totally ignorant in the subject of drums/percussion...ive seen this entire solo as well as his other solo...he was pathetic as a soloist...he had zero technical skill! ZERO...he bunched a lot of 16th notes together and created gibberish...he sounded good with the band but as a soloist , i can find at 10 year old that could match him...no skill at all...deal with that!
@MrSkosig11 жыл бұрын
yeah...he wasnt a great dummer... but a damn fine rockstar
@fricknfrack006111 жыл бұрын
this solo totally sucked!! i can get a 4 yr old to play better than this...sloppy 16th notes over and over...sloppy ans so over rated! he played well with the band on songs but his solos were the worlds WORSE!!!! they SUCKED BIG TIME! he should never have played them!

Keith Moon was unique. He was firstly a showman and secondly a drummer. No one, including Keith himself, thought of him as a gifted player. He wasn't. He was a one of a kind for his few short years and people will talk about him for a very long time. Let's NOT try to talk about his technique as a drummer etc. and concentrate on the show that was his life.

keith is great and all, but this is just noise...

Sorry, someone needs to give some tough love...... this SUCKS. It's barely even rudimentary, and it's still sloppy. I love Keith and his playing in the Who often knocked me on my ass. But solos weren't his thing and he didn't like to practice. Then don't try a solo, half-soused, on TV !! I've lost some respect for Keith (and Lars) because they were/are on top of the world (doing something their fans would die for) and were/are too freaking lazy to practice !! No excuses.....

Keith is an awesome drummer but all of the goldfish in his drums died and I think it was pretty cruel to do that
@JacobM341212 жыл бұрын
If people understood how rare and unique he was THEN he'd be the jimi hendrix of drumming (jimi's legacy is his influence not his skill(not to say he's not skilled))
