I owned one of those, awesome cars. I paid 2,300 dollars for mine. One owner garage kept. 108,000 mi on it when I bought it.

Great deal! Even tho it’s not the pinnacle of corvette performance I bet it’s still a blast to drive and cruise. Picked up a mechanically sound 87 formula with an anemic LG4 305 (165 hp when it was NEW🤣) and it was still fun to drive with the wife and t-tops off. A crate motor has since solved the power problem.

My 240D automatic does fine on the highway in Florida. It cruises great at 65mph and sometimes faster. I stay in the right hand lane and enjoy the ride, while those in a hurry zoom past in the fast lanes at 80mph. I feel sorry for them.😆

The 1976 Chrysler New Yorker was given the front and rear clips and interior treatments from the discontinued 1975 Imperial. The lower side trim with the horizontal lines, and the extra trim around the rear New Yorker badge were aftermarket installed. The “road styled” wheels as shown were a popular factory option. Hubcaps on steel wheels were standard. I’m guessing that car was for the Canadian market with the metric added to the speedometer in bold yellow. We had a 1975 New Yorker, a super nice car for long trips.

I preferred the 1971 model with the landau roof and the high-backed front seats. I never knew that Ford had used the windshield antenna in 1970, just as GM did. Interesting video. thanks

This is a car from 1970. There were no power mirrors available back then. Seat belts were made standard in 1966.

I had one of these which I inherited from my uncle who bought it new in the fall of 1969.The back windows stopped working 6 months after the car was new. We were told by the dealer it was a common problem with the 1970 Thunderbird and Lincoln Mark lll. Several dealers we took the car to had no fix for this, and Ford did away with the back window for the 1971 model year. I sold the car in 1986 and till that day was unable to find anyone to get the back windows to retract into the C pillar.

The T-Bird didn't have hubcaps. It has wheel covers. Hub caps just cover the center of the wheel, and clip on the wheels just outside of the lug nuts. I always heard the front of this T-Bird has having a porpoise noise.

Door lock knobs are not factory. Electric mirrors are a long way off for all cars at that point in time. Thunderbird emblem by turn signals lights up when the hi-beam lights are activated. This car was also equipped with power vacuum door locks. Nice video!!
@DSP196817 күн бұрын
Nice video of a car with a great color combination (though the vinyl top has been replaced). FYI, Thunderbirds were not available with electric mirrors until 1983. Prior to that, any remote-control mirror was controlled by cables, as on this car.

Great car, and thanks for the tour. For a future video, please consider showing the sequential turn signals in operation, and a look under the hood at the 429 ThunderJet V8.

Manufactured by Sanyo. Great TVs ... I liked the cool-white setup - made whites look REALLY good, and gave an overall great picture. Source: Owned one like it (different year though) and worked for Sears for 10 years.

Yes, OK. At the time of production they were the "Cheap Porsche" BUT, today (2024), they are no longer cheap, In many cases I have seen 912's sell for crazy prices, sometimes for a nice example as much or more than a 911. Go figure.

What kind of engines do these use? Type 1, type 4, or some other 1 off porsche engine?
@joes3485Ай бұрын
As ML mentioned, just push the inside door handle forward to lock from the inside. The front doors can be locked or unlocked from the outside using the key. If I remember correctly, the glove box and trunk lid locks use a separate key to lock and unlock. The ignition key took care of the front doors.
@user-yi3xc4ho4oАй бұрын
Bargain !! These 912's are NOT cheap. This guy assumes that Porsche people know nothing about these cars.
