What type of classes you interested in?? I have done some 3 hr ones on weekends in my area. Otherwise the larger ones are hosted at bigger venues. This class was at Hawkeye community college here in Iowa

You still haven't got a crain Z-bar cutter yet ?? Makes it as easy as trimming a wall ! I watch you younger installers doing it the hard way !! LOL
@Mr.TeeKay29 күн бұрын
How close do you get the edge of the z bar to the tile?
@steierflooring986929 күн бұрын
3/8 of an inch was this z bar

wow. wondering if i need a vapor barrier on the lvp i am about to install in my basement. currently have carpet, was bare concrete for years and never saw and moisture.
@jonathancowdin3775Ай бұрын
Z bar is making a comeback to us younger installers lol, we might hate it but at the end of the day it's extremely effective, even more so than just tucking to a threshold, the old dogs used to use it everyday, planking edges have called for its services once again!
@steierflooring9869Ай бұрын
I do prefer the look of Z-bar a lot of times. Nice clean edge.
@jonathancowdin3775Ай бұрын
Yeah the more I use it the less irritated I get with it, just another trick to keep in your back pocket
@jonathancowdin3775Ай бұрын
Seen 20 year old z bar edges that never unraveled or had problems of any kind, its pretty reliable if it's done right

@@jonathancowdin3775 one of the old boys I used to work with up here, used it for everything! If you sell me, bring a stapler in to turn and tack a doorway I would get the look
@jonathancowdin3775Ай бұрын
Yeah I'm considering moving to it on all berber jobs for any threshold, tucking berber up against wood or tile just sketches me out and z bar is just to damn good for stuff like that

Works great in the middle of the roll. But when you can only take an inch off each side....not so easy and not so straight either. I serpentine them.

@justinsimpson3139Ай бұрын
Some carpet just shows seams more than others. In my experience softer carpet shows/peaks on the seams. If you ran the carpet vertical with that big window it would definitely hide better. Though, sometimes you can't avoid it. CFI/CRI states seams should be ran vertical to natural light and avoid running horizontal. Also, thermal plastic seam sealer on both edges helps quite a bit
@steierflooring9869Ай бұрын
The thermoplastic sealer was a game changer for me once I was taught how to use. Thanks for watching.

Stix S 60. Seems to be the only tape I have access to. Not a lot of folks running a6-inch, I guess.

I wanna ask my parents landlord to change their carpet bc theyve been living there for 20 yrs. But can this be done with the furniture still in their one bedroom apartment? Its quite small and they have big furniture can they install say half of the room and then move their furniture to the other side to keep installing the rug?

Hey John hope all is well, I know this is one of your older videos, but random question for you. I currently use the smooth spreader for hooking to the pins, I just ordered a notched one and think it’ll work quite a bit better! Have you tried both or do you just use the smooth one as well?
@steierflooring98694 ай бұрын
I have used both. The notched spreader works just fine and was the first spreader I purchased. After I broke it I purchased the smooth one
