Thanks for the wish. I think she is about 12 though. I attach below a film of when I first got her in 2016 from a cat sanctuary. She apparently had a previous owner who died. and had her for four or five years. kzfaq.info/get/bejne/jrCfac6a28zQmGg.htmlsi=PFOgFdK1n2iLXfEA

Widnes has had its soul ripped out and is just a commuter town for Manchester and other place's. Countless soulless estates. Upton , the clinc , spinney ave and thats just in hough green the rot started in the 70,s and now i don't even know half the street names on Weates close, Upton rocks never mind the estate on Moorfield road, or behind the Church view pub plus the ones getting built near South lane etc.

Strange I joined in 1999 and we had the metal frames I thought the plastic frames were later.
@Tappit333 Жыл бұрын
The metal frames were replaced with the RM2000 frames that we still use today, many are double-slotted to make more room in the depot, and the plastic inserts break because one slot shares two addresses. Definitely a rare video; we would never be allowed to film or take photo's inside today. I miss my old bike. :-)
@brendanroberts1310 Жыл бұрын
@@Tappit333 Yes I thought they came out in the the year 2000 hence the name but the uniforms in the video are clearly earlier than that. Yes getting rid of bikes was a bad idea.
@winco68 Жыл бұрын
@@brendanroberts1310 Actually the RM2000 was introduced in 1993 with the plan being to have them fully in situ by 2000 in all units. It never happened all new build D.O.s from ‘94 onwards had them from the outset and existing units were gradually replaced but even after 2000 there were still entire units operating with the old fittings.

Disgrace what happened to this place, and its still happening all around our unrecognisable town. The council have ruined this town. I never thought I'd leave Widnes but i now want go it breaks my heart to see what they have done.
@anthonyquinn60093 жыл бұрын
I agree Phuck. It was though the Liverpool Archdiocese who sold Fisher-More. Even so the council should not have given them permission. I attach a poem about the demise of the town below. ELEGY FOR THE HOMETOWN Our town has been desecrated, decimated, So much heritage and history obliterated Ransacked, hijacked behind our backs By career-minded minded councillors and bureaucrats Deals undisclosed with property sharks Licensed the bulldozing down of landmarks Unknown figures and unseen faces Have sacrificed swathes of green spaces. The mid-town school was of just monetary worth, Paid for by parishioners, sold by their Church, Nothing is sacred and nothing is divine Nothing it seems but the pound sign. So the learning of our siblings is compromised, Schools are too few, schools are oversubscribed The borders and outskirts will suffer similar fates They will be buried beneath more lego estates The team kit is not fit for tough rugby heroes It is plastered with sponsors, plastered with logos It changes each year, it's here and then gone, The black and white tradition is trampled upon Concerts are across the water since our grand Hall Was replaced by a theatre soulless and small, Since we were kicked into Cheshire without consent It has been a relentless downhill descent. And by insidious stealth, our town is being renamed. Halton must be destroyed and Widnes reclaimed.

This town is in ruins now. All these bastards who are responsible need putting against a wall and shot. Widnes has no history left only houses built for outsiders and drug dealers coz Widnes people cant afford em. I never thought I'd ever want to leave Widnes but now sadly I do. Nothing here but a big Asda , smack eds and Scousers. Halton borough council are a bunch of criminals with a licence to print money off us widneseans. This school for instance was built with the money people donated and collected it wasn't even theirs to sell. Keep up the good work hbc keep shipping in the shite and building more cancerous incinerators. Wankers.

I see where you are coming from Pluck. Fisher-More was an institution and landmark a piece of the town's history. The housing estates and apartments that have sprouted up in the town in the last 20 years are eyesores.

Anthony Quinn mate, my local station is hough green. Is it further up on the first platform? I live like 2 mins away in a car and about a 5 min walk
@anthonyquinn60097 жыл бұрын
The steam train is coming down from Liverpool and Hunts Cross and going on towards Manchester and beyond. You must live somewhere near me as I can walk to the station in about 8 minutes. After all these years I don't know which is the first and second platform. Is the Liverpool-bound trains side platform1 and the Warrington/Manchester trains side platform2 or vice versa?
@tyler77877 жыл бұрын
Anthony Quinn first platform is the one you come to first where you get tickets and stuff. You know where Atterbury is?
@anthonyquinn60097 жыл бұрын
It's the Liverpool side you get the tickets from. Up until the 1960s - and maybe into the 1970s - you got tickets for the stations going towards Warrington and Manchester from the building on platform2. And there was no Atterbury Close then. Up until the late 1960s there was no Afton or Brandon either. There was only Hough Green woods.

Great video !.Probably going to bore the socks off you now.I left Kingsway(the cenny) on a friday afternoon in 1961,went to the station on saturday morning spoke to the then station master Gerald Nuttall to ask if there were any jobs and started on 2-10 Monday as a junior porter.Had always spent time on the wall opposite Number 1 box train spotting with among others Geoff Kelsall,Ian Cook,George Ireland etc.so had an affinity with the railway from an early age.,used to watch the Deltic from my bedroom window in Baguley ave.Others working on the station at the time were Wally Mottram & Lee Taylor in the booking office,Bob Meredith (my next door neighbour),John Garnett & Alan Davies on the platform.After Nuttall left,he was replaced with a welshman named Hughes who had come from Hooton on the Wirral.Had some great times,using the empty carriages from the push and pull on platform 1 as a place to take girlfriends !.Remember seeing Enoch Powell (my hero)getting the train back to London from platform 2 after a meeting when he was minister for health.i then spent some time as a box lad in Ditton No.1.Some of the signalmen i was with were Les Harper from Halebank,Bill Leather from Ditton and Harry Chimes from Runcorn.The only ones from Ditton No2 that i can recall were Dougie Doughty & Don Freeman.Shunters in the yard included Ernie Shakeshaft and George ? Forshaw.I then joined the permanent way team with Ganger John Bob Houghton,Juddie Houghton,Bob Hitchmough.All happy days and am surprised that all these events and names have been recalled after watching your video,thanks a lot.Dave Beesley
